A P38 with Porton Down interior, terminal electrical fun and OMGlinerslip! scheduled for next week?

Cruiser FTP this morning prior to drive into work, probably related to the torrential rain yesterday.

Stuck key in ignition, everything good, dash lights on, clutch down, turn key - everything goes dead. Something's blown somewhere. Job for the weekend then.

Streetwise to the rescue again.

One of the benefits of owning chod is you are rarely late for work because of vehicular issues. Unless you're really unlucky and all your fleet is fucked.

I get the piss taken out of me at work for owning more than one car, but they had to concede that this was one time where it did help.

Wife asked me why we spend 400 quid a year taxing and insuring the mx5 which has averaged 600 miles a year over the last 2 years.

I'm sure a taxi would be a cheaper in an emergency.

"Oooh, I live in Kent and a sudden flurry of snow meant I couldn't get home, ooooh"

Grow a pair. ;)

Or at least invest in some winter tyres.

Winter fukin tyres - which wanker invented that shite?

Re Eat Kent vs Scotland for snow

I have lived in East Kent for the last 20 odd years give or take and I have yet to see snow that prevents travel

Great, £1600 stolen out of my bank today. Presumably had my card cloned?

I'm sure this is going to be loads of fun. FFS

If all in one transaction you may get lucky - mine was several smaller transactions.... I had to disprove every fucking one! The fact I was in the office in another country meant sweet FA to them - had to get signed proof I was in het office for every single transaction - it was bloody ridiculous!

good luck fella.

Santander stopped my card and told me of suspicious transactions, sent me a list of recent ones and asked to confirm any I had not made the refunded them.

They did ask if I would be prepared to speak to fraud squad detectives but I never heard any more about it other than a new card a couple of days later.

I had exactly the same with RBS, very easy and painless

a person or persons with a shotgun was needed .... would of been permanently grounded and every bodies hols could go ahead

Assuming Gatwick drone?

I wonder how much damage they'd actually do to aircraft considering they are a similar size & weight to birds that planes tend to hit without crashing quite often.

Birds aren't metal and plastic though. If they find the cunt who's doing this, five years in prison with no early release.

See what you think of that.

True, but a similar size & weight means similar impact damage I'd have thought?

Not saying they aren't a cunt to fly it there, I'm just wondering if it's a typical over reaction from those in authority to a minor issue.

Depends where they hit. Bird strikes can and have caused major problems (mainly to the spinny turbine things which are meant to throw plane into air). A good thing about them is we can have lovely films of Sully land on the Hudson, so thank you birds for mking the ultimate sacrifice!

Because drones are made out of plastic and metal they might make the engine so exited there might be more than a fire and failure.

Posted

Aye I know bird strikes have caused issues.  I just rather suspect (with no evidence to back it up) that the vast majority of bird strikes don't.

Posted

Not big issues, no. If they miss the engines you're good. If you're in a DC-10 and a bird hits you might have a slight* explosive decompression but it's nothing to worry about!

Posted

Birds don't fly high enough to worry about decompression do they?

It happens several minutes after because they weaken the structure and cabin pressurisation tops it off. There was a case where the cargo door blew off because the locking bolts failed. In doing so the floor collapsed which made the rudder turn hard left.

A wee bit north of Balmedie, the house on the left of the picture is marked on most maps.

Winter tyres weren't as essential when cars had sensible wheels and tyres and didn't weigh as much as a Silver Shadow.

I've seen long disused cars in northern Scotland with chunky winter tyres fitted so they're not exactly a soft modern invention.

Love the 305 photo.

I totally agree from a physics point of view.  I also thought it was a massive over reaction (see also closing the motorway for hours when there's a crash) but perhaps in this drone case the intention is to make a big deal out of it to get some publicity and discourage drone flying near airports.

A couple of stiff sentences along with some unpayable damages bill for closing down Gatwick might make some of these idiots think again.  I don't get it, why would you want to risk your presumably not cheap drone getting a 737 in the face?

The house buyer process, lying pressurising estate agents along with less than honest vendor.

I'm hoping our conveyancer who has been moaned about (not by us) has directed them to the response given in Arkell v. Pressdram

John Lewis ripped me off yesterday then because I paid £299.99 + 5p for a bag!

ETA: follow up.

I agree with your logic there.
