1 ptfe tape - the fucking stuff wouldn't let go of my finger,attracted all kinds of dust,tried to stick to my jumper and various other things

 

2 heating oil- smelly bastard stuff

 

3 bastard fucking monkeyflange washer that wouldn't seal

It has an entry in the service book - but no receipt. The clutch and flywheel were done at the same time - for which there is a receipt!

The annual 2cv duck race took place in Farnham this morning for the 29th time. And a good time was had by all. A very far back passer by, who I would have said was well lubricated were it not 11am, wearing a blazer and cravate asked about us. I was polite as per, and explained our charity duck race and subsequent drive down to the apple tasting fair. He said. " oh, I think I'd rather be in the Ferrari club". I was stunned into silence while Colin, who is probably 20 years older than me told him that we have far more fun!

Took Kinky on a trip yesterday on the understanding we would be late back, I'd drive her home and I would not be stopping as I'm not leaving my car on a shitty Leeds street 400 yards away for student tossers to damage it. Fine, lets go. Gets on said trip, and it's constant trying to make me agree to stay whining.

 

Also told Ma she is not to attempt to remove wallpaper while I'm gone as she will just fuck it up. It's been a fun afternoon today with a tub of filler on the gouges she's made.

As someone who has a sister with Downs Syndrome, I can't say the phrase bothers me very much. I know she's far more intelligent than users of Gumtree, for whom the word Mong was truly developed.

Got my insurance renewal through, it has tripled.

Allianz are no longer doing car insurance! which ok there's loads of places that do, but its always been so easy to add a car for a few weeks / months with them. and cheap. now it's going to cost me 234£ to insure the clio.

I've stopped saying/writing this - but I honestly never intended it to be offensive to anyone except eBay chancers (and I actually probably stopped it before eBay started).  Just like spaz - it was something I grew up with not realising what it was really about.

 

My grump is US sourced TV is quite happy to teach my daughter (aged that spazzy, bummer and bastard are fine since they aren't regarded as offensive there.

I work with kids with disabilities and their struggles with daily life piss on almost anything on the grumpy thread. The use of terms like mong, retard and my pet hate, spaz is that it is a continual assault on the image of people with disabilities. Whilst you might not find it offensive as you have had the benefit of knowing someone with Downs and understand the capabilities of the real person, for most it just reinforces the idea that people with disabilities are inferior in one way or another. This in turn makes it harder for them to get by in life. Some of the kids I have had the pleasure to know are the hardest working most dedicated kids you could ever meet and get on really well in the workplace - just not the sorts of workplace where mong, retard and spaz and commonly used.

I have a sister in law with Down's syndrome, but as you say,you hear those terms but in our mind they don't have any connection with disabled people
