BMW straight-six?

Just what I was thinking........pref something with an auto box, and not riddled with electronics..............

That's actually a flipping superb conveyance. The old 5-pot Merc lump is as reliable as the tide, and it won't be any slower than any other P4. Plus Range Rover-style driving position and bench seats! I'm various kinds of jealous right now.

Posted

Given the work done to install the current setup, assuming all the mountings etc. are the same then I would have thought it’d be simplest just to upgrade to a Merc turbo lump?

Posted

Those 5 pots can be turbocharged and the power safely increased. TB turbos did lots of old hymers and the turbos were the same as used in the earliest sprinter 5 pots that also ran the same box as you already have.

Great purchase

+1 for the turbo, bonus points if you run it on chip oil.

Excellent looking thing that!! Well bought. Look forward to seeing what you do with it!

Now that would suit the matt black with red wheels...........OK possibly not

A million Taxi drivers cant be wrong when it comes to that engine.. probably the peak of dizzel non turbo-ness

Nothing quite so glam..........Merc 5 pot diesel and auto box..........

So how did they chop the sixth pot out.

if this is the 5 Pot version of the 4 pot Lump in Zel's camper

then im sure it will have no problem doing motorway cruising :)

(given how Zels camper seems to do just fine!)

as @MorrisItalSLX says bonus points if it can/you run it on Veg/used chip oil for maximum shonkyness!

Posted

Just superb.  A strong contender for Purchase Of The Year 2019.

So I'm not the only one then.

That's right up my street that is.

I'd bin off the Mondeo and use that every day, it'd look bloody superb in the works car park, I'd seek out the new Tesla Model 3 and park it next to it for extra points.

Yes..it's a six............don't know why I thought it was a five pot................senility has finally arrived.

That’s because it was a reply to the post above mine and my original one that mentioned the turbo’d Mercedes engines used in the ssanyong
