There was a factory Jaguar XJ convertible (well, technically a Daimler - called the Corsica), based on the next-gen X300. It was most definitely a touch* more professionally built. Never made production, and remained a concept car (or cars? - it seems like there are others/replicas around, as well as the metallic green original one).

Yeah, either an FC or an FE:

From what I gather, FCs had a small staright-lined chrome strip on the front fenders near the door gap instead of a "Holden" script as seen on FEs. If only the door wasn't open in the surfing photo.

I think I`m right in saying that the Corsica was purchased from JDHT & running gear etc installed so it now works.

I went to the JDHT museum several times when I worked at a Jag dealer, I particularly liked the XJ40 Coupe & estate concepts, such a shame they didn't make them to complete with Merc & BM.

As far as I know it is still owned by them. It does run and infrequently attends shows. It is an adapted Audi hood.

IIRC the Corsica was built as a static show car but a few years later JDHT sent it to a specialist who made it roadworthy. It's definitely still owned by them and lives in the Collections Centre at Gaydon, and it and the XJ40 coupe and estate are my three favourite Jags there, all very elegant missed opportunities.

Yes on both counts. The Centaur was a mk1 Cavalier convertible.

Designed by Crayford but converted by Magraw engineering Ltd.
