1992 Proton 1.3 GL - £695

Hola,

Want a slice of Malaysian action? Of course you do, that's why you're looking at this mighty steed. Namely my 1992 Proton 1.3GL, or Saga if you want the proper term.

It's minty fresh with only 24,000 on the clock. V5 is here and in my name. It's very green. The interior is very brown. It's all very nice though. I bought it as a car that had been laid up for a number of years. I dragged it to my unit, gave it a full service, fitted new steering rack boots and then put it through its MOT (has about eight months left) which it passed with ease. The only advisories were tyre-based, as they're a bit old. They still do the job though. Just don't go trying to set any land-speed records and you should be fine.

It has a silly green steering wheel and a silly green gear-knob, but I still have the stock parts. The only other notable upgrade is the stereo, which is a wonderfully '90s Sony unit with a ten disc changer. this is paired up to a set of boxed 6x9s on the rear shelf. Oh, and I've fitted a quick-shift kit to it, as the throw on the standard gears was comically long.

I love this little thing, but need to free up funds. You will not find a cleaner one, if you can find one at all. It starts on the button thanks to a new battery and as such, it'll take you anywhere.

The only downside is the front passenger door, which is rippled after a car-park altercation some years ago. I can point you in the direction of a new door, though.

£695 takes it. If not, I'll hide it away.

Anyway, pictures...

Moody DSLR shots are great and all that and everything changes but you...

But...

It’s always nice to see what’s what. Know what I mean?

Come on man. I’ve got a semi, and you can’t play snooker with a rope.

Last time i saw this it was parked on the owners drive absolutely jam packed to the roof full of obselete computer equipment.

He works at a council waste transfer station in bristol and the damage to the door was caused by an errant wheely bin.

Nice replacement for the 323, Wobbler. :-D

I don't need a replacement! Proton box has already been ticked, though this one looks lovely. I adore that Aeroback styling.

Autoshite... the wonderful place where you’re not sure whether you want a Burgundy Jag or a Green Proton more...

Probably good job I’ve got room for neither...

GLWTS!

I refuse to live in a world where these are worth more than £400.  Please delete all my content, I'm moving o Mumsnet.com to complain about house prices.

P.S. lovely looking car.

Christ alive, a bit of a gap between forum postings and you're all on it. It's £795 on Twitter, too, fwiw. Nothing naughty about it, just hadn't changed it on here yet.

Here are some normal shots.

If that was a 1.5 I would definitely be itching to snag it...even though the wheel and gear knob...just no. Very much not my style!

I really, really want another one of these in my life at some point but really worry they're going to go all Metro and go out of my price range before I manage to get one.

Ha! As I say, I do have all the original stuff still. Happy to put it back on.

And yeah, it's no 1.5, but honestly, the 1.3 is lovely.
