I love my Mrs for so many reasons, probably why we've done 21 years together but I actually loved her a bit more after she corrected me the other day when I foolishly called one of these a 480. She said "no, that's the pretty one with the pop up headlights, 460 is just a hatch".

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Her mum used to own a 340 so she must have followed the nomenclature a bit........

Or used to fancy someone with a 480 🤣🤣🤣

I hate to spoil the mood with my pedantry, but the 460 was a saloon.  The 440 was the hatch.

I had a late (C reg) one of these. It rolled more than I would have liked, but hey are underrated cars. Wood and leather inside, Loads of torque, nice gear shift. can be up rated in many ways. Plus now there are more body panels available then for my Westie.

I use to race, and usually win against things like the smaller engined fiestas. That use to piss them off. This one looks as if there is a lot to do. avoid.

Is anyone really this spoiled? Or is it a cover story for why the number plates are obscured?

"This was brought for my Niece as a Christmas present but she wants a Beetle convertible instead"

One of the guys on my Grampa's estate bought his Granddaughter a Seat Ibiza (the new shape ones) that had minor front-end damage but he rebuilt it himself as a gift but she said that she didn't want it, she wanted a Corsa. He kept the car and drives it himself now.

This is very rude, feel sorry for this grandfather he sounds like a great and nice guy, too bad these traits were not inherited by his granddaughter.

It is indeed. He's a nice chap, he's a former VAG mechanic so I've had a lot of information off him regarding odd jobs on the Fabia.

I can still remember an episode of Minder when the spoilt daughters dad buys her a 3 Yr old Cortina from Arthur and she's complains to Terry she wanted a Golf Cabriolet 🤣🤣🤣

Inevitably he shags her and gets into some sort of fight with ten people and Arthur says "oh my GAWD" a lot....

Still love it though.

These were intended to also replace the Morris Minor in the wacky world of BMC. Never happened in the UK but a Morris version was produced  in Australia.

They were well liked at the time and 103,000 Wolseley  versions were sold over 8 years.

BMC then produced a Wolseley  version of the  FWD1100 to superceed it...and Leyland then produced the Marina in 1972 which was mechanically and in layout like this car BMC had introduced  in 1957 😅 except the '57 car had better steering...
