Nothing on the MOT history about structural issues about that Clio though and although the first MOT was when it was 3 years past what it should be, it seems to stack up.

What would that have cost new?

Why would anyone spec & pay for that over something more predictably Cherman?

Because .... just because...

If you know you know...

i'd rather have that than most BMWs of the same era.

I wonder how much the VED costs

Old me maybe! But new me requires much less of a project to be able to justify buying anything else. Simply no spare time at the moment 😫

(Also I think that's priced at COVID levels. You start to get into a Ruby at that level that is mostly together and working)

“Ok here goes! The good: Engine solid, car starts, runs, drives, gearbox solid, clutch good, suspension good, Romac alloys, straight through cherry bomb exhaust, tyres good. The bad: Will 100% fail MOT but £2k would get this back to minty. £1k if you’re doing it yourself. NEEDS front discs and pads, front drive shaft fitting (wrong one is fitted and it judders turning right. Has done for months) it’s had new brake calipers etc on last mot. The alternator is on its last legs. The ugly: Theres is damage to the bodywork as pictured. The central console (around gear knob and handbrake) is missing. As is the arm rest and dog grate for the rear. The front light on right needs a whole new unit. There are a few marks on the paintwork too (as pictured)It has MOT till Jan 9th so no need for a trailer it’ll drive away. It’s a great car and I’ve put a lot of work into it but it’s fallen by the wayside and it’s time for someone else to get a tune out of it!”

Mine had standard dials. That one looks saveable, albeit with underlying rust plus the collision damage.  I had great difficulty finding spares for mine.  We had to drive to Kent to obtain a new steering pump not long after we bought it and engine electronic items were very tricky to obtain.  Mine bit the dust when the ignition ECU failed.  Even the galvanised body panels put off places which were prepared to do welding repairs. Luckily, mine only needed such repairs on the non-galvanised floor pan.  However, I liked my Hyundai Stellar more, probably because it had a beige/tan interior and was rear wheel drive.  That one has not resurfaced.  It's still on SORN somewhere.
