Someone I did some spannering for bought a Mk2 GTI at auction for £14k. It was a nice one though and it did have an MoT. "Never been welded" was actually true.

A more-doors GTI never made sense. And those wheels have always been horrible.

Bloody hell, this brings back memories. A mate bought one of these off my sister’s ex-boyfriend around 1987, with a gearbox stuck in third. Same colour too. I drove it back in third, he hadn’t passed his test yet. He replaced the gearbox, clutch and rear wheel arches. You could bring the car to a stop by pressing your feet against the passenger side bulkhead! Great right hand drive conversion trait, which I used to piss off my mate🙂
