Genuinely my ultimate spec, sadly it's not Mambo Yellow and I have 2 too many as it is.

How could anyone think there's £500 in this POS? Even if you were unwise enough to try and get it on the road, there's no engine and

Thanks, it was delivered to my friends house this evening, I took my girlfriend to look at it and she said you just need a Lotus Eclat now 😁. Please don’t* post any cheap Eclat’s or Elite’s. I have too many cars, but I said I had too many when I only had six!!!!

I’m starting to think you’re actually me. Probably nicer though.

I still have a saved eBay search in place for cheap Elites, even though I already have one. I promise* never** to post anything that comes up and tag you in it.

Best part of £200k, let's get that out of the way. A friend's dad had one of these in the late 80's / early nineties, I think he traded an Interceptor for it but I reckon it was a £30k car max back then. I recall exposed alan bolts holding the dash together but it was a truly special car and the rows of Dellorto carbs were a wonder to behold. Regretfully, it was destroyed in a garage fire and it appears that my chances of ever getting one are becoming more and more remote.

Its a "3 wheeler", but with stabilisers! (which seem to be missing from the one on eBay, although they are on the spare engine) See the example below.

I can only assume stability must have been a problem.

One of these would be on my shopping list if I won the Euromillions, although I would still struggle to get my head around spending so much on a car.

I'm pretty sure that there's a thread all of it's own on this subject but a mate and I were chewing over what you could spend £15k on, stick in storage with light maintenance every few months and double your money in 10 years. Could this be it? I'd want to rag it around too much so no good for me.

The 350cc version had four wheels.

I’m lucky enough to have driven one of these, albeit only about ten yards onto my trailer and then off again. I’m normally a bit ‘whatevs’ about supercars and ‘proper’ classics as I know I will never afford one, but I was quite taken by the Espada. I could see myself smoking around in one, (wrongly) thinking I look awesome.

Right.

It's been a long time since an Autoshite Save happened.  They're always brilliant and glorious, and a source of good reading material.

So can everyone have a think about what they actually WANT from life, realise it's an original Austin miniMETRO in Brown, cough up some pennies and get this thing bought?

I've ommitted the front valance photo because I don't want to frighten you off.

Seriously, this is what it's all about.  This.  A brown miniMETRO.  With further brown.

No excuses.  Who's in?

If you're the sort of enthusiast who enjoys pot-hunting, I reckon that Metro is a shoe-in for a prize at the Festival of the Unexceptional after some careful restoration, should that event ever take place again. I have no interest in Metros, and even I think that's pretty damn class. The seats are INCRED.

@Zelandeth to the early Metro Phone please

(BTW can someone explain to me please what the different head lights on the Metro mean?, I have seen some with flush mounted head lamps and others with recessed ones but I have seen both styles on Metros of the same age so is it a Trim level thing or?)

bASe spec ones were recessed - higher spec ones were flush.  That was only for the first couple of years of production from memory.  There will be people what know better than me.
