Snow shite?

I may have missed it but... Photos of our shite in the snow!

About 6-8" overnight, and not a gritter to be seen. Got out by reversing with hard left lock, then going forward up the side of the houses (down a slope into a gravel drive), then reversing hard back up the slope before putting hard left lock on again.

Mk3s a fucking goodun in the snow. 5 winters now mine will go anywhere. TBF hair trigger throttle response is a pain in the arse in slippy conditions though

Nothing but a wee skiff round our way...

We had some snow and ice just as a treat for the way home from work 06:00 Saturday.

Having decided to "send it" out of the car park the car preempted me and sent itself sideways at about 3mph.

Cue a steady 40 minute drive home with me concentrating like fuck.

I bought a transit custom a couple of months ago. Ford have took all the fun out of driving in the snow. I tried to handbrake it into a space in the screwfix carpark a couple of times but the van kept braking for itself and stopping the skid. I can't find the button to turn it off.

Gave the window a squirt coming home.

Parked up and found this.

Both headlamps frozen where my not so good screenwash had been squirted from the washers.d873cf19c3d3c20f0d4d441aacbad8a0.jpg

We dodged the bullet here.

It snowed Friday evening, but was all gone by Saturday morning, thank fook.

Can't stand the stuff.

Seem to have missed the worst both at home in South York’s and when visiting parents in deepest Lincolnshire.

A picture of the Teapot just outside Caistor yesterday on the ‘worst’ patch...post-27066-0-75745300-1549181256_thumb.jpegpost-27066-0-62289200-1549181281_thumb.jpeg

This is from the morning after it’d snowed.

Lots coming down and it settled nice and thick overnight but by mid morning it was rapidly melting.

Photos taken 5 minutes ago.

Another day in front of the fire as the door to my shed has frozen shut.

Nothing here at all, this little bit on the floor is from the other day, in fact the weather has been that nice* I've been cruising with the roof down

Mrs fp ran out and took this picture as I pulled up earlier

You have to go through the dash menu to turn it off, go left arrow as far back, down to settings, then driver assists, then traction control (from memory)  8)  On mine it still feels like it cuts the brakes if you go too hard in it!

It's been a bit cold in the Peak District of late.

My work area today.

Was a bit chilly there in the shade.

Mrs CW: "You'll be wanting a pic of that, I s'pose. Shall I slow down?

Me: "Eh? What?

Oh, er yeah, please"

You can just see my wife proving that winter tyres are (literally) the way forwards here coming up the dirt track in the snow.

She passed three cars coming up the hill which were stuck and the Golf didn't even notice the snow.

I don't think I could ever be without winter tyres now, they make such a difference to traction.

I've had no chance to assess the winter tyres on the Saab in snow but it was a bit skatey on the ice where water was running across the road and had frozen. Had to wait in the lanes while a 4x4 towing a large trailer with a heavy load extracted itself from the bank after the trailer must have taken charge of forward motion on the ice.
