The thing about mistakes is to learn from them.

He said it was 'black or dark blue'. The V5 says black, but (under all that dirt) it seems like a weird sort of metallic black-blue shade.

Massive hats off to @Grundigfor letting me know about it and all the help he gave. It drove ace on the way home, CVT gearbox weird at first but works fine.

No worries Mate, nice to meet you again ( within covid 19 guidelines ) - it will be a good little runabout for sure

That coolant expansion tank & the battery were expertly fitted by me

This one appears to be relatively rot free...

Cheers, he messaged me yesterday with the GR8 news. Still got a load in the garage from the Galaxy!

In other news, the Sierra has gone. Handily enough, the lad viewed it on the last day of it being live, had a test drive and made an offer. He's not long collected it, so the space was donated to the Micra. That received a pleasant wash this afternoon, think I've found one rust spot on the arse end of the o/s/r sill/arch, other than that it seems mega clean. The driver's window goes all the way up, but noticed it doesn't quite sit square so needs a hand on the inside and one on the outside. Seems to have worked though, as couldn't see any water ingress after giving it a bath.

The modern* (2010) Astra had a wash too, the paint on the bonnet has got worse the last few months its now like running your hands over rough cast concrete. It's due a few things too, couple of tyres and drop links etc, but not sure whether to bother as it won't see a noticeable return if I finally decide to off load it. Oh, the interior is now mouldy as well. For the running costs (1.3 CDTi) and tax (£20 p/a) it could just stay on the fleet just for the hell of it, and the Corsa might go instead. As hopelessly wank as the Touran is, it's actually useful as a collection/delivery/tip run motor, though it's clearly been a fucking awful year if a Vauxhall goes and this stays.

I like the badermatic K11 - not enough to actually want to buy it mind you.

Decent result,  that. Should be a tolerable workhorse for you.

An afternoon with the dremel putting some tread back on the tyres and that'll be alright!

(equally that looks like a test where it's new tyres depend on what happens and what's utterly fucked. Guess there's a part 2 coming when you've swapped a scooter for 4 bora wheels with winters on?)

Had a look at  the modern Astra recently, the front tyres were near to the limit. Someone local was selling two on Astra rims  on eBay but didn't answer my messages, so I bombed up to Ellesmere Port town centre earlier and got a couple of part worns.

Either washing it the other day, or the weather, or both, has made the lacquer peel even worse. Going up the motorway it was like it was snowing, great chunks were parting company from the bonnet.

What happened or happening with the Wartberg?

Still in the (lock-up) garage being roundly ignored, probably going to remain that way for a while to be honest.

*Boring modern car, soz*

Have pretty much ignored this since it came back off hire. Gave it a wash the other day, then (as mentioned elsewhere) it had two part worn tyres fitted. Due to some previous SKILLZ, YO! on the home valeting front, the interior never really dried out thoroughly enough and the carpets went mouldy in places. Have vacuumed it out today, cable tied a slightly-the-wrong-size wheel trim to the front and went to get some diesel.

Here's how it looks from a few yards away...

Basically, it was possibly used for blind folded parking in a brick factory, then washed once a month in a giant vat of battery acid. Still runs remarkably well though and is cheap on juice and tax.

Thanks to @worldofcerifor the sterling collection/delivery service, that's twice recently he's done that. Top service at a great price from a top bloke.

I guess you could not get on with the right hand gear change then :-)

Is that a blue A50P Suzuki, ie the unrestricted one? If so, more pics please, my second bike (after an NVT :-( ) was one of those and loved it!
