Indeed. End of breaker bat on an axle stand. Tieed to axle stand and stand ratchet strapped between front wheels so none of the bots can move. Also put sheet of ply between radiator and front of engine to prevent socket end of breaker bar going through rad fans and ac condenser. Btdt as well.

Had a customer who had failed the mot on worn discs and pads but No mention of the fact they where two different sizes across the axle (Corsa 1.0 and Corsa 1.4) a fair size difference. He Had owned the car for a few years and never had it mentioned.

 

Wanted to return one disc and for me to sell him one smaller one. I refused and said I'm having nothing to do with it. Fix it properly or don't fix it at all.

No. Just offer him more advice, but use your professional indemnity insurance as an excuse as why you can't help.someone do.something dangerous.

 

Reminds me of the tale from a lecturer at Coventry Polytechnic who had worked for AP brakes, and was called to Blmc to sort out a car that would not brake in a straight line.

Sorry I'm late coming back to this, I checked and the cutoff for petrol cars is 1/7/03 so if your car is older than this they shouldn't have failed it for mil.

Quick mot question, 2005 car, diesel if it matters. Does it need a working reversing light? Hopefully I'll have it fixed before the mot as it's a pain with it not working.

I could do with a laugh. In particular I would like to find the thread that included pictures of soft toys getting into a disagreement with a shiter. Possibly it was a colleckshun thread. The soft toys were last seen with the caption/meme 'you and me are going to have a problem'.

Sorry for late reply. This is actually possible. Many many years ago I had a Pug 306 and the central locking went a bit mental, would start randomly unlocking itself for no reason. This was "fixed" when the (still working) Sony CD player was removed to refit the original OEM cassette player. Central locking worked perfectly again after that. I should add that the CD player had been fitted for 2 years prior to the issue happening.

Looks like cooking skewers to me.  poked through a rolled up piece of meat to stop it coming undone in the oven.

Dad and I held the breaker bar last Saturday while the Mrs turned the engine over as there wasn't anywhere suitable to rest the bar against without causing potential damage or having to remove the PAS pump. I'd whipped the plugs out so it turned over smoothly, not pulsing as you get with compression. Gave no resistance at all to 6ft and 6ft 5 of (ex) rugby player.

 

Turned out getting the new belt on was harder as incredibly tight fit. Plus wearing gardening gloves.

Sounds like it might not have been as tight as they often are.  Did it make any kind of a 'crack!' as it undid?

I bought an old impact driver, but wherever I put the silver ring, the head only seems to turn right not left, is this a typical problem?

I have one like that somewhere - not seen it for ages.  I have a dim recollection that you have to pull the black bit out and twist it or something, then a different set of grooves engages with the peg that turns them.

Typically, that video was posted whilst I was out digging around in my shed for mine!  I found a newer one that I don't even remember buying.  Push and twist is how it works too, but you shouldn't need a vice.

 

It's not a tool I use very frequently, tbh.  I think I bought it so it was there if I ever needed to unscrew the door hinges on my Land Rover, but I can't imagine using it for many other things.
