Guest Hooli Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 or like that? Is that a mainframe car PC? LightBulbFun 1
John F Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Nope, not like any of those... I mean where the light units and/or rear quarter panels behind the rear wheels swivel out of the way, allowing better access to the sides of the boot to make loading bulky items easier. More like this, but with improved access to the sides & less champers & foie gras:
panhard65 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 How about this ?Apparently there is a bit of storage at the sides but it is mostly engine. John F, Tamworthbay, Exiled_Tat_Gatherer and 3 others 6
John F Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Not quite, but it's on the right track & I'm always happy to see a de Tomaso
pshome Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Is that a mainframe car PC? Set of computers to drive the funky dashboard? Royale80 and LightBulbFun 2
John F Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Ah - I've found something that's similar to what I mean - but imagine it having a normal boot with the swivelling rear panels pivoting on a vertical plane outwards from the C pillar instead of on an essentially horizontal plane upwards from that central structure:
Eddie Honda Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 That BL Mini fit the bill really, but you want bloody moon on a stick!
John F Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 That BL Mini fit the bill really, but you want bloody moon on a stick! Hehe, it is probably the best so far
Pillock Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Like a Ladybird, but with wheels and an engine and 1000 times bigger? John F and Cavcraft 2
AlabamaShrimp Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I'll post this here but it's the same as I said in the news 24 bit. Exhaust fell off hit the floor. No damage seen but now it won't line up with the new mounts. It's about 4 inch too far forward with no slack. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
John F Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Do you think it might have fallen off because that hanger had never been attached?
Richard Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 It might have bent all the hanger mounts on the exhaust when it fell off.
AlabamaShrimp Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Do you think it might have fallen off because that hanger had never been attached? Both were broken like they were attached and all the metal work is straight Edit: This pic is from under the car when they broke. Look at the damage in the back one. It looks like it's always been on at an angle.
sierraman Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Looks like it’s blowing from the back box joint to me.
andy18s Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Correct. Edited for the correct level of caddishness I paid just* £118.7 a litre at the weekend, I can't recall when it last that cheap.Filled up at 1.89 Lev a litre last week,86p for
DodgeRover Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Filled the Lexus for 63.9ppl I remember thinking petrol was dear when it was costing that.
Cavcraft Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 How do these wheels come off? Unscrew that big cap thing to reveal wheel nuts underneath, or a case of getting a screwdriver in what looks like a little slot at '2.30' and prise whole centre off? Thanks in advance, etc.
Tamworthbay Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 How about this ?The-De-Tomato-Mangustas-Gullwing-Doors-768x485.jpgApparently there is a bit of storage at the sides but it is mostly engine. One of my favourite cars and I love the utterly ridiculous rear openings that allow for hardly any access to the engine despite their size. Why does no one do crazy stuff like that anymore?
wuvvum Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Question for any BMW geeks out there: can anybody tell me what flavour of locking wheel nut key I need to undo this? It's off the Rover 75 but is a BMW fitment. It looks to me like it could be an 051 but then I look at other patterns and think it could be those as well. The locking wheel nut key which came with the car isn't even close - helpfully* that doesn't have a number on it. The alternative is to buy a complete set of keys - 45 quid on the slow boat from China, so not the end of the world but an expense I'd rather avoid if I can.
skattrd Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Not much help Wuv, but when I phoned my local part-worn tyre place the other week to ask about removing locking nuts, he said he should* be able to do it and usually just asked for a tenner. Then buy 4x standard bolts.
Broadsword Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Sorry if this has been asked before, but when was Autoshite created? Before the videos of Mr. DW I had no idea of the existence of this marvelous place, so I don't really know anything of it's history.

Yep, that's what I thought. Actually not having locking wheel nuts doesn't half confuse some tyre fitters ..

Piece of piss to remove with a reverse thread 1/2 socket and a windy gun.
Richard Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 How long do locking wheel nuts delay thieves by? I'm going to guess that it's approximately not at all.
wuvvum Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Mcguard nuts. Piece of piss to remove with a reverse thread 1/2 socket and a windy gun.I've got a set of those sockets but they only go up to 19mm, which is slightly too small - next size up seems to be 21mm but I'm concerned that'll be too big as a "normal" 20mm 12-point socket slips straight over the bolt.
D Spares & Tyres Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 I'm replacing the engine on a 2004 Peugeot Partner van. Im ditching the hateful.DW8 and putting a 1.9XUD in it. On the exhaust manifold there is this pointless looking thing bolted on.IMG_20181128_150426.jpgWhat is the point of it? I've seen it on quite a few cars but never really questioned itIt's some kind of resonator. The one on my 305 had a hole in it so I fitted a flat plate in its place, with no apparent ill effects. That sounds logical. I cut it open and nothing was insideSo I have blanked it off as it was in the way of the coolant pipes on the van bigfella2 and Lacquer Peel 2
