British Leyland A series engines: do the A+ engines have that tiny bypass hose* between the water pump and cylinder head like Minors, Minis etc had?

I've only seen them once and the tyre guys I was with at the time hate them. All sorts of problems getting the tyre to seal with the 'gator in place.

My Metro Sport (same as an MG Metro really) Doesnt have the bypass.

You used to be able to replace it with a concertina hose.

Hang on. They look shit, stop the tyre sealing properly (most of the time) and will make everyone think the car is owned by an old giffer who fits those stickers around the keyhole to protect the paint.

I believe that Minis did but Metros didn't.

 

I remember there being different water pumps (Quinton Hazel QCP3709 Mini and QCP3710 Metro - not a bad memory 10 years on) with the bypass blanked off on the Metro one. Later pumps just had a rubber blanking plug in the box.

 

I had a 1985 Mini that had a bypass. That was an A+

Hopefully the 2 people doing the brake fluid change will be one to operate the pedal and the other will open and close the bleed screws. Open the bleed screw with the pedal up and fluid will dribble out, when the pedal is pushed down the fluid flows out. Just as the pedal gets to the bottom the person on the bleed screw should nip it back up. Then when the pedal is lifted the master cylinder will only be able to drag fresh fluid in. That is the principle but there are many ways it can go wrong, if in doubt have it done by a professional as brakes are rather important not to mess it up.

I have a Sony Xplod radio thing in the 944.

One of the things it can display is the time, (the light up led clock in the car no longer lights up).

There doesn't appear to be a way to set the radio clock, I assume that it picks up a radio time signal.

But it's wrong, it's recently started running four minutes fast.

What the actual fuck is going on?

Press and hold the volume knob, it will display the setting menu. Rotate until it gives you the clock settings.

Who is it that works in / runs a garage near Stanley / Chester-le-street ?

 

My family all live down that way and are hopeless with cars, my mam just got let down by her usual place (several of the family cars have gone there for years, she must have spent a fortune but when she brought her car in with grinding noises from the front brakes, he dismissed it as corrosion on discs without even having a look, i jacked it up to check and there were no pads left on one side, we won't be going back there)

 

I live three hours away so would like to send them to someone that I know will look after them.
