Cavcraft Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Get in there! Thanks for that, I normally hate maths, but that's made me very happy.
andy18s Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Okay, something new to worry about. Why does my car (Bentley) lose water? It goes from the 'high' mark on the expansion tank to about an inch above the 'low' mark and stays there every time I top it up? It annoys me as I like things on the mark as it were. It has a new cap but it doesn't feel tight to be honest. If it stays there all the time then it's probably just "finding its own level"Keep an eye on it by all means but I wouldn't get obsessed by it.... xtriple 1
The Moog Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 but I wouldn't get obsessed by it.... I think that you are saying that to the wrong person Cavcraft, xtriple, DeeJay and 1 other 4
andy18s Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I know,I thought that as soon as I hit post........ xtriple 1
Eddie Honda Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 If I did one kilometre in 54 seconds, how many MPH was I doing? I tried .54 X 1.609 then timesed it by 60 (for minutes) but clearly I wasn't doing 52.1mph How fast was I going, please? (Sorry for dimness)With working: 1km in 54 seconds. (54/60 is 9/10)Divide 54 by 9 is 6. 1km divided by 9 is 111 metres.Multiple both bits by 10 to get dist over a minute.6 x 10 is 60. 111 x 10 is 1.11kmMultiple both bits by 60 to get to dist over an hour.60 x 60 is 360 (1h) and 1.11 x 60 is 66.6 Then converted 66.6 divide by 8 is 8.36 then multiply by 5 (1km approx 5/8th (0.625) mile) and that is 41.8mph All done without calculator...
Eddie Honda Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Metricfication should really be completed inconsistant 1
M'coli Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 As Viz pointed out, it'd ruin several jokes - "My mate Billy had a 3.048 metre willy" just ruins the rhyming couplet, doesn't it? Eddie Honda 1
omegod Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Update, Roverslag is running happily on 40 litres of the 5 yr old petrol topped up with a tenners worth of fresh unleaded .....resulticus maximus !!!

scaryoldcortina Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Yeah, but if he keeps putting water in and it keeps dropping the chances are it's using or leaking some of it.
twosmoke300 Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Best take it into the specialist for an 800 pound jubilee clip 😄 DeeJay, myglaren, NorfolkNWeigh and 4 others 7
tooSavvy Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Best take it into the specialist for an 800 pound jubilee clip ... too busy today to drop in to see my 'MOT Man'.... and price up the Damper fitting, on ToMM. Likely a smidge less than that... not requiring a Jubilee Clip will be a good start, there. get it MOTd as well TS
Guest Hooli Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Metricfication should really be completed Nonsense, we need to get back to jsut using proper measurements. If for no better reason than it'd piss the frogs off. MarvinsMom and sheffcortinacentre 2
Eddie Honda Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Thanks all, spanners ordered. Amazon? Draper Expert? AICMFP? When they rock up give us a review.
Kiltox Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Anyone know how I can find out if my van has a DMF or not without removing the gearbox to check? Some do, some don't aparrently
twosmoke300 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Tragic 1.9 diesels are solid flywheel
Kiltox Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Tragic 1.9 diesels are solid flywheelI really hope that's true (not doubting your far superior knowledge and experience on such things, just seeing a million different reports online of some having DMF and some not even down to parts suppliers offering both for it!) One less thing that could be fucked if it doesn't have one!!
twosmoke300 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I've never seen one with one yet - what's your reg ? I'll check it with my suppliers
rainagain Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 What's causing the outside edge of the tyres on my S80 to wear so badly? When I was getting the new tyres fitted to the back I got the garage to check the tracking, they only had a mechanical tracking gauge, but it didn't show any problems. They don't look like they're wearing from too much toe in as only the edge is worn, I thinking either excessive camber or could I just cornering too fast in a heavy car?
Guest Hooli Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Cornering could do it like you say, or worn bushes affecting the camber.
Kiltox Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I've never seen one with one yet - what's your reg ? I'll check it with my suppliers SG53 JTVAppreciate it!
rainagain Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I was thinking about changing my breakdown to Autoaid as they will cover me and my OH for only £42.35 for a whole year, any vehicle and UK recovery included. I did a quick search of this forum and have seen some fellow shitters are using them and say they are ok, however I was wondering can you just insist they take your broken down vehicle to your home rather than back to their garage for expensive repairs? I often travel hundreds of miles from home in my own car for work and if it broke down I would rather they just towed it home rather than fixing it.
Kiltox Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Yes you can - I've been towed to home and or my storage unit many a time rainagain 1
AMC Rebel Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Amazon? Draper Expert? AICMFP? When they rock up give us a review.Draper expert ones off Amazon. They are for a particular 10 second job (oil cooler lines on my ZT) but I thought I'd get a few to go with the slightly larger ones I got from LIDL the other year.
castros_bro Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Will the steel wheels from a Rover 218 fit a Rover 25 ? This question is related to winter tyres.
steveo3002 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Yes you can - I've been towed to home and or my storage unit many a timeeven from miles away from home ?
Kiltox Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 even from miles away from home ? Yep. Last recovery was 80 miles but I have no doubt they'd do further
rainagain Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Yep. Last recovery was 80 miles but I have no doubt they'd do furtherexcellent, thanks for the reply, I will give them a go
twosmoke300 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 SG53 JTVAppreciate it! Not listed as dmf by my suppliers Kiltox 1
