700 miles in, Toledo EML lit today; Is it worth me trying to find my bluetooth ODB2 thingie, or do I need a VAG specific thing to start figuring out what's going on?

Hi mr and/or mrs inthewelder,

I had to do the compensator on my Berlingo which is the same rear axle as a 405.

I actually ended up getting it from ECP via whichever of their internet fronts offered the best price via googlable voucher codes.

A quick check of my email reveals it was ATE branded and £54.29 after discount.

Generally the valves don't break, they either seize up or the spring that attaches to the axle breaks (shit design imo.)

Hilariously the spring isn't available separately, the year before I bent a new hook on the old spring and got away with it, but this year I bit the bullet and replaced the valve as various rear end brake pipes needed replacing and wouldn't come out of the valve.

Bingo, I didn't think ECP would have it.

About £75 with their 20% discount.

Thanks chaps. I have dragged the 405 back to work from the test centre but haven't had chance to tinker with it yet. Brought the Citroen van home but need to collect that from a mile away later as I used it to fetch the Disco incase it needed a jump start. Disco is now home and seems to be running better for a fresh fuel filter though the tank might be leaking slightly.

I will bet ONE BRITISH POUND that it's actually just the end snapped off the spring, my tester put it down as seized but all they really see is that it doesn't move when they bounce the suspension.

Get the £5 blue vagcom wire off ebay, will do everything you need as long as it's not canbus.

Is the toledo based on a mk4 or mk5 golf?

It's been on intermittently since about 65k. I took it to a specialist who said something like 'auxiliary air pump' or some such and reckoned it wasn't an issue. Assuming trigger didn't do anything with it then I found that disconnecting the battery for half hour tended to knock it off and it'd stay off for around 5k miles.

So how do these raffles work then? PayPal or something? I know how much of a bastard it was to organise the sweepstake on the national with people wanting to pay later.

Let alone get money off people on the Internet

I guess this is a strange corner of the internet as most people are alright at paying up from what I've seen.

But the general order of rofflage is:

List of numbers

When numbers all taken, PM from seller with paypal details

When all numbers paid, roffle drawn on next lottery

Could anyone possibly find out for me if any other psa lower ball joints are compatible with a 1994 zx 1.9td hatch?

Ecp have none listed for my reg, but I can hit it up if any others would be fine and check stock

Enter your car details manually. Are they the shitty screw in ball joints? I'll get a part number from the Cit catalogue when I'm home if you PM the VIN to me.

Reserved the picasso one, and unless anyone tells me otherwise I'll be there having a rolly at 07.55am (might drive the Meriva though, would this be wise?)

The picasso one did come up when I entered my details manually too, so it must match (I then checked out the picasso one cos it was in my basket)post-5612-0-51525400-1461501922_thumb.jpg

That was the relay for the secondary fan, I replaced that as someone had cut a terminal off and cleared the fault code and it never came back on again.

I'm breaking a 9-5 and a 9-3

That probably saved some wear on the fan itself over 60k!

There's a Scenic for sale on eBay, a runner but with no test.  The seller says "It will need a trailer to  take away because of the new laws."

What new laws are those then? :?

Anyone know if this is Bosch or Lucas, please?
