Richard Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I know these things have their fans on here but they must surely be a candidate for too shit to be shite.
LessThanEqual Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Yes, if the car runs way too cold. yep will be like being on choke most of the time Thanks guys, got it sorted at a garage, much better now!
NorfolkNWeigh Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 The thread about the Sesciento has got me itchy about a first car for the daughter. Seen a w plate fester 1.3 with 8 months ticket on it. It's in a garage as an ex p/x for £450.00. Thoughts on it? My gut feeling is that it's better than a Ka but other then that I've not had a lot to do with them.Worth getting some insurance quotes on specific cars first, the 1.0 Arosa my youngest two both had as first cars was about 40% cheaper than a 1.0 Polo, for example.I think KA to Fiesta might be the same.I would recommend an Arosa or Lupo to anyone as they don't feel flimsy like most small cars , there is the fear that your offspring may develop pineapple tendencies though, luckily mine haven't. burraston2006 1

Slappy Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Thanks Sic and 2Smoke, I've passed that on, with thanks in return.
spike60 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Anyone got any idea why an oil filter disintegrates like this? Removed from son's 2006 Astra 1.4 recently bought with no history and an engine change anyway. Suprisingly the oil light wasn't misbehaving, I hope I rounded all the bits of paper up. I've had one squashed in in a BMW 540i but not seen this before.
meshking Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Anybody had any experience of Autoaid breakdown cover.http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.ukYes, I use them. Have called them out once when my Smax battery failed completely. Nothing to pay on the callout, which leaves me to think that minor fixes don't require the pay and claim rigmarole. They were efficient on the phone, so no complaints. A+++ would use again. Sent from my SGP621 using Tapatalk DeeJay 1
twosmoke300 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I've had a few Vauxhall filters do that . I put it down to lack of oil changes cooking the filter spike60 1

TataBobu Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 ... may develop pineapple tendencies though ... What are those? I linked them to using VAG cars, but I don't quite understand.
beko1987 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 OMGMODERN question, would a 15 plate mondeo with the touch screen shitnav media centre play MP3 CD's? My dad isn't quite getting electronic MP3 transferring, and has asked me to burn and post him a CD. I have several albums for him, and one MP3 CD folderised would be much better, but I have no idea if moderns can play mp3 cd's. My £30 aldi headunit can, but will a £300 built in touchscreen media unit from the worlds 3rd whatever car maker do it? Don't ask for the model of the radio though cos I have no idea! It's a big screen with buttons underneath and a twisty knob in the middle!
320touring Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 send him a blank CD and the sondgs on a stick. the cd wont work and he'll be forced to use the stick. you can lead a horse to water.. mercrocker 1
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 What's with the Pineapple references to VW?
beko1987 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Stick is a shout actually.... Does a 15 plate mondeo have a USB or SD slot? Can surprise him with the entire discography then!
mercrocker Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 OK, I have a genuinely stupid question, the answer to which isn't going to increase my lifespan or quality of same but I have to know.... Sports bikes, fairings with twin lights. Do they have the ability to be switched singly - ie "nearside" only or "offside" only? Seeing dozens of bikes with only one front light lit up. Is it some kind of DRL or just shit electrics?
Taff Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Anybody had any experience of Autoaid breakdown cover.http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk http://autoshite.com/topic/21983-no-mate-no-idea-what-wrong-with-it-can-you-just-tow-me-home/ They came well recommended here. When I spoke to them on the phone, the bloke was dead helpful and cleared up my couple of low level points of concern. I haven't had to use them yet, but hard to argue with £41 to cover the MGF and X1/9. They wouldn't touch the Galaxie thought, to old and too American for them. fair enough, I thought
mercrocker Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 What's with the Pineapple references to VW? Somebody will be along to refer you to an Autoshite Lexicon that I cannot find at present.... However, in summary - the trend amongst VW "Dubbers" or "scenesters" (usually with beanie hat, goatee and/or T shirts with reference to some Californian dross) to decorate their vehicles with fake rust, sticker-bomb campaigns, silly roof racks full of rusty old cans and other shit has been the subject of much derision on here. As these people usually beat their cars silly with the lowering stick and congregate together in whatever the collective noun might be for such behaviour this ridicule has become understandable. It was at one time reported that amongst the afore-mentioned silly shit lashed to a rusty roof-rack a large pineapple was seen. This fruit may well have been a mystical sighting or a slight exaggeration. However, it would surprise nobody if it were true. The said tree-decoration has since become part of Autoshite folk-lore and the accepted adjective for any type of VW-related molestation toward the "Dubber" tendency. I should also add, in defence of my T25 ownership that I take no part in any of this nonsense and my vehicle is correctly stanced and the only rust on it is at sheer belligerence on the part of the vehicle... It mainly one for dip and one for high beam, all recent bikes have to have the headlamps at all times, its the law, on some bikes you can fit a relay so they will both come on on dip beam, no drl or shit electrics involved mercrocker 1

xtriple Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 The first bike I ever had with lights on all the time (no on/off switch, just dip/main) was my 03 Triumph Speed Triple. That had the left headlight for dip and the right for main. Two minutes with two new relays inserted into the two vacant slots had two dip and two main. I hated one on one off! mercrocker 1
Lacquer Peel Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Stick is a shout actually.... Does a 15 plate mondeo have a USB or SD slot? Can surprise him with the entire discography then! According to my research, even the base model has two USB slots. beko1987 1
barefoot Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 In the past couple of weeks, I have arrived very early on at the scene of a couple of minor accidents.No-one hurt, dinged vehicles pushed to the side of the road...The traffic has been self policing and has come to a stop and folk are taking it in turns and curiously driving around the small pile of broken headlamp/indicator/reflectors etc.My question; is this manner of detritus really likely to burst a tyre or anything else?
steve_earwig Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I think it's like breathing asbestos, it's unlikely to do any harm but the right bit at the right angle and you're in all sorts of bother, so best avoided really. Re. bike headlamps, my UK spec TDM uses both for dip and main, but the Yerupean spec ones use one dip and two main. It would drive me crackers, especially as it's not overly impressive with both dip beams. barefoot 1
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Where can I get some Autoshite stickers and is there something like an Epic thread section? Loved reading through some of the older threads, been stuck indoors with Manflu (like Aids but the bad kind) and it's cheered me up no end. Timewaster 1
Richard Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Ruffgeezer is the man to see about stickers. Jimmycrackcorn 1
