Yes, he did. He looked after a ton of stuff for me when I couldn't afford to get it shipped over in one go. My stuff had an Ohio holiday instead. Just raising the funds for some tasty Isuzu tat to head over the water from Norm's now. I still have his email address and now and again send him stuff, mostly photocopies from mags and the occasional small Capri part from scrappers.

 

Norm was a good 'un, although he did have a really bad habit of dragging threads off topic. Other than that (and his hatred of the BBC) we got on famously.

He never seemed that bad on Retro Rides to be fair, It was only on here that he came across as a massive helmet cheese, If he didn't steer every thread into a train wreck of arguments and bitchiness or just plane drivel then he would have lasted longer.

 

I had nothing against the bloke btw and when he pm'ed me he always came across as quite normal, It was just the way the forum was heading with him on here.

People have lamented some of the longer standing members leaving, too much fighting, too much of this, shit quality posting and the like. Strange that, when i first came on and got abuse it was from the very kinda people that have gone (although some feel the need to reinvent themselves over and over) and tonight, more shit from somebody who wasnt even part of the fucking discussion!

Yes, it used to be really good here, i joined when the place was still in its infancy. I lost contact with it years ago, then found it , lurked, then created a new profile to replace the long forgotten one. See? I was here long before some of those wankers who think they own the place.

The problems with the people already here, i doubt if anybody has the balls to tell SC to wind his neck in because he is a "fine fellow" well, even fine fellows can be tossers sometimes and ought to be told so. Thing is there is a distinct lack of balls here, if you want the place to be how it used to be, people have to be reeled in, this aint Lord of the Flies. The Orion morphed into the Escort, as did the Belmont into the Astra and they were just called Astra or Escort saloon. Probably a bit cynical of me but I had a theory that it was down to helping sales figures, for example Ford may have sold three million Escorts and five hundred thousand Orions, so by combing them under one name (Escort) they could say they sold three and a half million Escorts which pushed that model nicely up the top selling charts.
