I think Romania uses a similar system to the UK layout, but can throw the odd digit instead of letter trick.

What's the minimum voltage for a cordless drill/screwdriver so it's not totally useless and can say screw in big decking screws with ease? The one I have just now is soft as shite.

14.4v min 18v even better so long as not too heavy. 12v a world of pain if you have a lot to do.

Can I wire a negative earth appliance into my positive earth car backwards? Will it end in fire? Will little kittens have their fur singed?

Posted

No. You can isolate an earthing point on the car for positive earth, it mustn't earth to the negative Earth (ie anything on the car) on the car though as it result in a fire, and you can't use an aerial.

Use an inverter.

Hey crew.

I'm doing the timing belt on my Volvo V70 TDI automatic, same engine as T4 Transporters, LTs and other VAG SHITE.

There are tippex marks on the cam pulley but they don't line up to what I presume is TDC, an I | O mark on the crankshaft pulley. I can't work out how to view TDC through the bellhousing on the gearbox, I think the hole is just there to lock it.

Basically, AMIRITE about the mark on the crank pulley?

How do I get this to connect to torque?

It pairs with blue tooth but then torque can't find it. Is it just a duff one?

How I got mine to work:

- DON'T open the app; turn the phone's Bluetooth on, search for devices, and pair the OBD doodah-the code is probably 0000, 1111, 1234 or 6789

- Open the app

- Go into settings, then device, and select OBDII

You've probably already got that far though as you say the Bluetooth found it but the app didn't.

I've got a set of old Ni-cad 14.4v makitas that have done just about everything I've asked of them, the impact driver whacks 4" screws into timber joists with no problem, my 12v Dewalt impact driver is the same I've used it to put 10" timberloc screws through chestnut sleepers without too much fuss. 24v Bosch Blue were shit though they were too heavy to use.

If your going to buy a new one get a set with a hammer drill and an impact driver, impact drivers make something like a deck so easy. Buy Makita or Dewalt and they will last you years.

I can also recommend Spax Decking screws, quite expensive but worth every penny over standard deck screws.

What's E85 Ethanol ?

Currently on me hollibobs in the land of ultra Laquer Peel, shagged out Cadillacs and Mexicans towing 40 foot trailers with fucked Explorers.

I've got a Toyota Sienna hire car, which is a fat Previa ,loaded with every electric convenience known toman and pulled along by a 265 bhp 3.5 V6. Not surprisingly it's only managing 16 mpg , but as the OTG has been showing 106 degrees f. And the thing is like a giant fridge, that's OK.

Filled it up this evening , £26 for 16 gallons- I can live with that, but noticed E85 is about 20% cheaper, would the Toyota die if I threw some in?

That's just made me think I can put it it in , 'can cause damage ' isn't the same as kittens and nuns WILL die if you do this.

Isn't it rocker panels or something daft?

Thanks that's been driving me mad for a week now.

No, just mix it all together and pour it in the big drum, all my fluids go into one container and get tipped in.

that little key, could it be for a locking petrol cap?

i doubt its for the honda though, as i think if it was you would have found out thats what its for by now!

Too simple for a Honda.  Looks like a key for a cheap briefcase, the sort that works almost as well as a paperclip.

nothing very exciting then - I'll lob it in the shed just in case :)
