dave21478 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 hmmm, that rings a bell actually. Stuff like the headlights is easy enough, I can add up the watts used per circuit and work out the current drawn to find a correct rating...the other circuits, I think an edumacated guess going on the old fuse and wire thickness should suffice. There isnt a lot to it electrically and I have a good fire extinguisher. SierraMikeHotel Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I'm a bit excited about this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saab-9-5-Vector-Auto/123004116550 Anyone on here with experience of 9-5s? What should I look for when I go and look at it? The last MoT had these advisories:Offside Front Anti-roll bar linkage slightly distorted (2.4.G.1)Nearside Front Anti-roll bar linkage damaged but not seriously weakened (2.4.G.1)I have literally no clue if that's serious or not. Indication of a crash, or just wear? What should I expect to pay to get it sorted?
taxi paul Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Attention you spray painter chaps. I done a few rust scabs on the primera today. Ground out and rust treated then filled. I got an aerosol made up to the paint code.so after doing it and using proper undercoat from spray paint place. It looks ok but is just Matt finish. So do I need to wet and dry the paint then buff it up to get a shine.
DodgeRover Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Either it's gone wrong or it's clear over base and needs to be lacquered. Check what's written on the can taxi paul 1

SierraMikeHotel Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I can't even recall what's under mine as it just works but I think those are just drop links. Cheapos that can't take the load maybe? Somehow "drop links" sounds less scary than "anti-roll bar." If it was an old Citroen I'd be shrugging that off as a service item. Thanks dude, I think there may be an insulting bid on its way to that.

Bobthebeard Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Has a thread just vanished? The one about mechanical aid from the beast from the east or similar.....Or am I going mad?
Eddie Honda Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 You're going mad Bobthebeard. It's fallen off the front page (now on page 3) and you're a Google-cripple: http://autoshite.com/topic/31174-mechanical-help-from-the-beast-from-the-east/ DeeJay and Bobthebeard 2

Talbot Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Wife's friend has a 2009 Ren-O Grand Scenic, which has had a wiper motor fail. One side wiper started juddering, and now they will not operate at all. She's been quoted £850 for a new pair of motors and fitting, which sounds *horrendous* I know nothing about these new-fangled dual-motor arrangements, other than they have two motors. I assume there's some sort of positional control between the two. And an ECU maybe? Are they coded to each other? To the car? Is there any repair that can be made? Or just grab one from a scrapper? Also, WTF was wrong with a motor and linkages?
Jazoli Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Got a 1994 k11 Micra L spec. I would love a el cheapo budget stereo which could be slapped in with minimal wiring ( plug in appeals ) that would let me play mp3's from a USB stick. Any recommendations? Halfords have got some ex display units for £30-£35 which look like decent value, should be plug and play too http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-stereos/ex-display-sony-dsx-a200ui-car-stereo HarmonicCheeseburger 1
cort16 Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Wtf are you meant to do with old coolant?. Big warnings on it saying do not pour down open drain and to be fair adding it to the water table doesn’t sound like a great idea . I’ve got about 10 litres of it in bottles after flushing the cooling system on the cortina .

Jazoli Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Adapters are a couple of quid and harness adapters are around 7 quid on ebay, the one pictured will be the one you need (probably) HarmonicCheeseburger 1
xtriple Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Adaptors are easy and cheap(ish) also from Halfords. I've bought a few stereos from them and if the adaptor is required then usually in stock which does make it plug and play. Jazoli and HarmonicCheeseburger 2

taxi paul Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 I got my primera adaptor from halfords. Very friendly lad put reg no in and went and got it. Only £7.99 . Dearer than eBay but at least you know it's right. Then went home and fitted my €10.00 scrap yard blaupunkt state of the art ICE system. I know it is state of art cos my lad looked at it and said "look at the bloody state of that, buy a proper one. cobblers, HarmonicCheeseburger, SierraMikeHotel and 7 others 10

robinmasters Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 How come we aren't allowed to use incandescent bulbs in our houses, but we can in our cars?
DodgeRover Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 How come we aren't allowed to use incandescent bulbs in our houses, but we can in our cars? Not allowed by who exactly? You can light by gas light if you see fit! The ARP won't be screaming "Put that light out!" If you do. It'll be an EU directive same as not being able to buy 1000w Henry hoovers anymore. oldcars 1
Guest Hooli Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 How come we aren't allowed to use incandescent bulbs in our houses, but we can in our cars? Yup EU bullshit. lights that work & you can see & read by are now illegal to sell. It's part of the dumbing down campaign that forces you to watch TV & get brainwashed into never thinking for yourself. oldcars 1
