I fitted my Primera with higher profile tyres in search of a slightly more comfortable ride (195 65 15 in place of 195 60 15). This did help however now the front tyres catch slightly on the inner arches on full lock which is annoying. It occurred to me that fitting 5mm wheel spacers would probably help however will this make my wheels fall off and/or ruin my wheel bearing?

Plastic wheel arch liners? Meh

Just pretend you're driving a d5 Volvo, where tyre to liner interface is std feature...

for the siezed bolt ...

plus gas works better than wd40...soak it repeatedly if you can

impact gun has less chance of snapping it than a breaker bar

any chance of getting a welder near it ?   blob of weld on the head will heat it enough to shift it sometimes , if not once its snapped weld a washer onto the stump then weld a nut to the washer , works very well

DO not snap a cheapie easy out in it ...makes it 10x worse

Got a new (refurbished anyway) rear calliper for the Clio. I squeezed the handbrake cable arm back and may have overdone it, there was a squirt of brake fluid from the bit where the pipe attaches and now it's not springing back or applying the handbrake. Should it do this? Have I buggered it? Will they know I'm a clueless idiot if I take it back and claim it's broken? Is there an easy way to unbugger it?

Thanks in advance!

The c2 is due it's mot in the next month. The arch liners are bollocks. Can they be trimmed to remove the flappy bits at front under bumper or can I just bin them? Thanks

Posted

I could yes, problem is the piece what runs under the front bumper which clips to the bottom of the arch liners is completely missing. My own fault as I ripped the bumper and passenger side arch liner off in a temper when I couldn't get the gearbox back on after the clutch. I'm going to try and trim the flappy bits back level and secure it higher up.

I hope they're electric powered flatbeds otherwise it rather pokes a brolly in the spokes of the whole green ethos.

not everyone has an electric car because of it's reported green features, like not every one who has an old car is 'poor' just like everyone who has a lease aldi isn't a flashy bastard, sometimes things just work for you and you roll with it.

Indeed.

You don't need to speak to Dutch to understand this.

Range and battery % are very very different things! Blasting it on the motorway at 85 quickly brings the range of a 50% charged battery down to anywhere between 25-35 miles, whereas rolling down a good 1 mile stretch of road may give me an extra few miles but generally only ever adds 1% to my battery. I've found my range very much to be taken with a pinch of salt, I've driven to Birmingham from home used, 20% battery but still had the same range left as when I started my journey. just like a petrol / diesel driving style plays the biggest part.

Before I take an anglegrinder to the non-starting TU®D5 1.5D engine's injection pump stop solenoid security cover - item outlined in red - Would one of the assembled fettlers tell me that I addressing the right item and what signal there should be down the wire to operate it?  I swapped out for a new one is there a selection of different stop solenoids which fit this Lucas pump?

ToMM© is causing me a bit anxt..

The power tilt/slide is operating 'a la Toyyo' of course :)

However, when dropping the tilt down it is 'ker-plump'ing closed = sounds like it is a midge misaligned and catching the back edge of the roofhole.

Toyyo webbie shows 'learning to park' button pressing routine >> but that is for 'one-touch' operation.

ToMM© is just hold finger on until it stops.....

Anyone had bodyshop experience with fitting/repair/install/setup on these sliders? Likely similar for other makers?

Probably some 'discrete' grub screw or pinch clamp that I haven't found a webbie reference to [thus far].

Anyone?

Wow I understood at least 3/4 of that, have you tried a bit of silicon spray or WD on the moving bits, is there a pop up wind deflector at the front adding a bit of resistance to the last inches of closing? Some ABS plastic bits that get a bit sticky when grubby respond well to a wipe clean with a spray soaked rag.

Vauxhall Vivaro 1.9CDTI - is this a Renault engine and if so how shit is it?

Posted

I think it's a Fiat engine with lots of "German shit bolted to it".

Posted

The 1.9CDTI in the cars is, it's the same as the Fiat/Alfa/Saab JTD.

The vivaro is a rebadged Renault Tragic though, not sure what they use.

Posted

It's a Renault 1.9dci . Not actually a bad lump apart from all the usual common rail / wiring issues around it

Posted

It's the car engine dropped in a van, with different turbo ect to suit.

Gearboxes seem the real weak link but they are getting over 12yrs old for the youngest

isnt that the egr wide open throttle switch?

You are right and I is wrong, but in my defence it was a bit stressful with melange of    night time FTP miles from home + AA (other assistance services also available) + early Flight from Gatwick.

Upon further investigation turns out the "advice" about the stop solenoid and security cover was wrong and there is a leak on the ally casting of the diesel filter housing which is bolted to the top/back of the engine.  So now only need to bodge an in line filter to move it before the street mechanics start reclaiming it then try and find another filter housing.

Forgive the most stupid question on earth ever being asked.. but how do the roffles here work then?

I see people asking for the numbers they want.. and thats simple enough.. but i never see any instructions how to pay? Is it done via PM between the members or is there a facility on the site somewhere that is hidden away?

Sorry if thats the dumbest question of all time..

Pm's are sent out near the end with paypal instructions, you send your money with your screen ID and NO mention of raffle/roffle etc and you are done.

Another stupid question...

Is the bold bit because paypal might decide to get in on it and charge?

Simply 'gaming licence' and legality issues 'could' be brought into it if anyone was having a bad day. (Or something like that)

Even simpler than that; if you mention roffling the fun police at Paypal will think you're paying for goods and/or services and charge a fee, whereas a gift with a random string of expletives, slander and insults is free.

When I type into my browser www.autoshite.com it comes up a page saying "SORRY" in big letters, In order to get access to the site I need to go into google and do a search for autoshite forum and click on the link and the site comes up. what am I doing wrong?

What is the trim thing that goes up the a-pillar which makes the screen tidier/deflects water? I had the screen replaced on wednesday and the drivers side one escaped at ~70mph on the A3 on the way home from work this evening. I wasn't going back to collect it. Its basically a 2 foot long straight black rubber insert that covers the screen  edge.

I need to scour ebay for one but not sure exactly what the thing is called. Its rubber I think.

I get it too, hopefully this should be fixed when we take over the hosting early next week. Its likely a cache issue as it works fine for me in an in-private browsing session.

Clear your browser's cache etc.

The browser has remembered the exact route to the page.

This route has now changed so your browser gets lost on the way. If your browser cache is cleared, the browser will have to look up a new route, and will find the site correctly

Do lithium batteries have a shelf life?

The ones in my impact driver seem to have lost their oomph. Date code says early 2014 so will be 3 years old.

It's not the age but what useage they've had really. They've only got a finite number of cycles in them.

If you leave them in the charger overnight dues it go through a special cycle like the dewalts do?
