Hi everyone.

I found this forum via mentions in Hubnuts video channel. I've been reading it for a few days and it's a damm site more entertaining/informative/chilled place than certain other motoring forums!

My own motoring history has tended towards the mundane as I've always had about a 90 mile round trip daily commute for work.

A string of new or new-ish uninspiring but reliable* vehicles had left me with little love for motoring at all....

Come my 50th birthday (and without wifely approval) I decided to buy myself a second car that would be used for fun* on weekends. Using the money I found down the back of the sofa i bought myself the world's worst two seater soft top.

A 14 year old Ford Streetkak.

Is it too shit to qualify as shite?

I've always thought they look properly fun, especially with some winter tyres in the weather we've had recently!

Zounds, it is a pretty pass whence I fynde myselfe havyng to make mine introduction agayne; but I must with goode grace recognyse that much hath chayng’d since mine presence were last constant upon the beige hue’d forum, and since I depart’d for Tangiers these many years hence, I now returne to fynde many of mine contemporaries hath now gone unto their Eternal Reward. I do spye many new names, and new conveyances hereupon, that I scarce know where to begyn.

It hath come to mine notice that sundry older postes that I hath long since begat, have late been notic’d and much admir’d. So, havynge lost track of mine pass-worde and logg-in, I am now wont to take up mine quill once agayne, in hopes both to entertayne and illuminate the divers wayes in which mine conveyances do give cause for much vexation and despaire, that all men here maye learne, and draw succour thereof.

Thou mayst know me from divers sources; mayhap I hath parlay’d with you at Will’s Coffee-House in Covent Garden, or perforce have we assisted one another in bump-startinyg a shagg’d Astra outside Deptforde Auctions one nyght in the pissingye rain. It matters not: for we are all assembl’d here for to discusse and assiste with the owningye, repaire and rofflynge of sundry conveyances that hath acquir’d the sobriquet of “Auto-Shyte”.

I confess I am sore occupy'd at present with the heavye burdens of mine profession, viz. the preparedness of His Majesty’s navy, yet I truste that I will fynde a scant few momentyes in the course of mine dutiyes to poste up-dates &c.

And may our Lorde and Saviour preserve us against such fallings-out as I hath heretofore witness’d!

Also, a pox of scabs be upon the arse of Photo-Buckett, for I hath lost all of mine handsome etchings.

I heartily belieyve that this place doth be what it wert.

What happened to that last new user? His account appears inactive now?

Gigglepin?

He's got a regular coloured username and there's nothing that's happened that's led to a ban or anything.

Sometimes people will come up as "inactive" if they change their email address, but it all looks sorted now. Giggle on!

I think user inactive means it doesn't think you're logged on.

Everything from the point of being a proper member is fine, and you can post as normal etc

Hello autoshiters

Mike here from Denmark. I've a big fan of this site and all its members (been lurking for a few years), as we have no such forum over here and I love all cars, classics and trash the like. I found the brown forum through the RR page and so glad I did with all the amazing tales told, filled with the laughter and tears cheap motoring brings along.

I've been lucky enough to live in US (Miami and Orlando) for about 8 years, and UK (near Bristol) for about 2, which let me to own/rent/try plenty of cars over the time. I've owned some 30 cars in total over my 20 years of driving, and most have been in the bottom of the food chain, which doesn't matter to me as even the most unloved ones have a personality of its own. I love taking in a beaten dog, giving it some love before passing it on to the next (un)lucky SOB in the line.

Besides loving the unloved, I also love variety with only a few cars sticking with me and/or coming back again. The Nissan Primera P10 is the #1 on the list, most likely because it's the car I learned to drive in, my parents had one from brand new (which I later owned) and it's one of the few cars that never let me down.

Anyhoo, I'll make another thread with my car list as I have pictures of most which will take quite some space.

So greetings to one and all, I look forward to spending many an hour reading and posting among fellow autoshiters :)

/Mike

Greetings all,

I've been lurking for a fortnight or so after stumbling across the site whilst looking for a bodge for a failing VW central locking system (Site came up in a google search).

What I've seen here struck a chord with me, I like the shite, enjoy the prospect of ROFL's, and have well documented a problem RE buying aging sheds much to the dismay of my friends and loved ones  :?

Cars I currently own...

2001 Lupo SDI

2004 Golf SDI

Cars I've owned in the last year...

2004 Passat pd130 highline

1989 Mk1 MX5

2002 1.3 Fiesta Finesse

Cars I'd like to own in the forthcoming...

Rover 75 (Dizzler)

Peugeot 405 (XUD)

Mk1 Octavia (Estate/dizzler, pre pd or SDI)

Honda CRV (Gen1)

Volvo 240/850

I shall start a thread to document my existing and future steeds shortly.

SDIs are my favourite spots.  Saw a MKIV Golf Estate SDI in white the other week and near enough pee'd myself in excitement...

Great choices.

Yes, the Mk4 Golf estate in SDI flavour is pretty much the holy grail, second only to Octavia SDI estates IMO.

I'm a perpetual SDI driver/buyer, lovely creatures they are.

Hi guys,

New here and currently living in Surrey. Don't tend to buy tat but seems to happen.

Currently looking to sell a gen 2 Hyundai coupe, blue, bit rough around the edges and needs some work but has had a lot of money poured into it... rather someone had it otherwise it's the great metal muncher in the sky for it.

will post in appropriate thread for it but here's a heads up.

Been lurking for years, this is one of my favourite places on the web. I think the reason I've avoided getting involved has been an attempt to curb my addiction to buying cheap bangers. Oh and wasting time on the internet. And maybe the fact that the banter here is of such a high level that I worry I may be out of my league...

A few months ago after a lifetime's obsession with old vehicles I "went off cars" and started walking as much as possible. I sold my rusty late 90s Merc C Class to a friend, and my only slightly less rusty late 90s Ford Ka is sorned and probably needs a starter motor (anyone want it?) it's currently sitting on my mother in law's drive wishing someone would take it out for a good thrashing... great little car, but not quite practical enough for me to justify spending out on it at the moment.

My rusty late 90s Vespa is in the back garden. It's been off the road for two years because I have failed spectacularly to fix a faulty indicator. I made a particularly spectacularly bad attempt at fixing it in the rain this weekend. I was full of confidence and enthusiasm when I started, but I have decided that I hate it now. There is bad juju between it and me and that seems a particularly bad thing with it only having two wheels. It's true that I'm a long way from being a master mechanic, but I'm not normally quite that bad at fixing things. I'm not sure I like Vespas after all now, maybe it was part of my midlife crisis, but I've always been much happier with the unloved and unfashionable. Could it be time for an Innova?

My wife has a car, a not very rusty late 90s Beetle, but I don't like it very much, and I only drive it if I have to. It's OK, but just a bit... modern?

Anyway, all this walking has made my feet hurt, so I'm looking lustfully at pictures of a rusty Vauxhall Astra estate for sale on here. In 23 years of cut-price motoring, I've never owned a Vauxhall... Feeling itchy...

HELLO!

1) It's knackered, sell it to me really cheaply.

2) You know it makes sense.

3) Welcome along.
