Donna's welcome to freshen up at mine (Dh7 9) as long as she doesn't mind being groped by a stranger.   I get the feeling a 2CV will massively appeal to me and have never really had the chance to look up close.

I also have a welder on the shopping list currently since Mrs L1 bought a beige/brown 305 estate..

Cheers for the kind offer! I'd really appreciate the opinion of such a  connoisseur of fine french chod. I think Donna would love the attention TBH, she's been languishing under her car cover for too long, since she refused to start for my better half.

I can always borrow a welder from my Landy hording mate, would just need the gas.

Hello all! I’ve paroosed the forums for quite a while but I’ve recently joined. I’m only the tender age of 17 but I own these fine steeds! Big time LDV fan, and for the observant; yes the black van does have sliding doors. Hopefully I won’t get chased off here for my fleet and I’ll see some of you nice folks on the interweb!

as someone who quite likes the LDV Pilot/Convoy I definitely approve :)

thats a very cool lineup, you just need a V8 one now with sliding door for maximum win  (assuming they made any like that!)

I'd like one like that, I heard that the police used to have some with that setup. The only thing I couldn't deal with is fuelling them, even though I work at a petrol station!

Yes, driving them is a bit like Cliff Richard going on a summer holiday. Might be forced to have a go at the stub pins.

Hi all,

Thanks for letting me join, I have been lurking for a long time, thought it it was only polite that I signed up!

I currently drive a 2008 Renault Master Camper van, but I've had quite a few others like an Iveco Turbodaily, many Transits, a Volvo 850 T5, Honda HRV, Corsa 1.5TD, Mondeo TDCi, Sierra XR4x4 24v, MK2 Escort, MK1 Fiesta, and not forgetting my first car, a 1983 Austin Ambassador 2.0VDP auto in black!!! ?

Hey Shiters

Quite new to this forum though I've heard of it through HubNut and the like.

I wanted to join to get some help and tips on my Citroen C15 which is in the picture. Love the van and it's bringing out my inner mechanic.

This is where I was at about two weeks ago wanting to clean the innards and inspect some leaks here and there, because of course there's leaks.

filled in a hole on the drivers side rear but didn't do it properly so it's rusting through again, got some rust treater for that now.

Also got a gaping hole on the drivers floor which appears to be leaking from the engine bay. It's where the frame goes from the front, down the bulkhead and under the drivers floor. Any ideas how I'd stop this? 20190825_194800.thumb.jpg.efd23c14d00db9918f8a547974d2db14.jpg

There's more welding here and there which gets me tempted to learn to weld.

Anyway, thank you for accepting me into the forum and hope to speak to people soon :)

Matt

That van has appeared on here before.  Around 3 months ago on the Ebay tat thread.  I remember it.  It was in Antrim, right?   Welcome along.  I like your wicker speedo and the driver side window set up.

Hello, new shiter here. I’ve owned all manner of shite over the years but the current ones are a lovely Ford Puma and a Citroen Dyane 6.

I’ve not had the Dyane long but I’m enjoying how different it feels and how much character it has. The Puma is brilliant, hardly any rust and such wonderful handling. Had that for three years and love it.

Love the site and hope to contribute in the future.

Hi all,

Having read these forums for a while, decided I should sign up, hopefully my buying habits qualify...

I live in North London and my daily transport is courtesy of the tube, which gives me a little leeway in what car to run I suppose, as I never (rarely) need it to get me somewhere urgently at 6.30am.

For a few years I've owned a Capri, 1.6L in an odd shade of blue (Corsican Blue, seemingly primarily used on Cortinas). Equipped with such optional extras as a parcel shelf and heated rear window... Other than a 1.3, it's pretty much as low a spec of a Capri as can be had. It's had a pretty easy life having been owned by an old guy from new, main dealer serviced etc then sold to decent keepers in 1999... Thus avoiding the boy racer era! Simple, reliable, sees regular use, happily does round trips to the North of Scotland etc. Still puts a smile on my face even if I'm just going to Tescos!

So a few weeks ago I was pondering about taking it off the road for a couple of months over winter to get caught up on various jobs which need doing and hopefully avoiding the worst of the grit weather (because Ford). But I *definitely* wasn't going to buy something to get me through the winter, would just get the bus etc etc... Then a chap who works at the motorfactors then happened to mention that he was selling his Nissan Bluebird, and a little while later a deal was done. Very different to the Capri, handles sensibly, makes me feel like a dodgy moonlighting minicabber from 1995...

Not terribly good photo attached.

I hope to be able to contribute to a few threads, maybe even something of some use!!

Thanks! Friends think I'm insane. They're probably right! Luckily I've got a garage which the Capri lives in, and it becomes tax free next year...

Can the Capri make it to Arundel this weekend for the southern shiters meet?

Must be minted if you've got 2 garages for 2 cars in London!

I wish I was minted! One garage, the other lives on the street street. Luckily the rent on the garage is pretty reasonable.

Love your Capri N19. Welcome to Autoshite.

Thanks. I'll put up a thread with some more pics soon. (I've loved reading through others' tales of trial and tribulation).

"My name's Crackers and I like trains."

Imagine someone introducing themselves like that. Oh wait, bugger.

Yeah anyway. I like trains a bit. Here's my Mk1-and-a-bit Focus which is approaching chod but not quite there yet I'm told. As a fashionable* 18 year old I cannot imagine anything I'd like to be seen driving less. In full Grandmother-spec with sparkling* old-people Blue exterior paint more commonly spotted on similar era Jazzes, but, it's in fine fettle, with 58k miles and, get this, air con. Oh yeah, and it was free.

Distinctly average in every single way, it ferries me around in total boring reliability and literally never puts a smile on my face. Can't wait to see the sod go so I can buy something worse (more on that later).
