Erm....

Well done on a successful pass Foxanne! Now if you can pass that same luck to my MX5 for tomorrow that’d be great!

Well done DW and Foxanne.  I will admit to being surprised, given the starting point and the trials and tribulations of getting it all working again.  You should be proud of yourself  ?.

Did the paint stand up to the british summer?

That would be interesting to know about. The Dollywobbler Paint Treatment might be a method for me to use with small outdoot projects.

Seems to have... it really did absolutely pelt it down just after the test too.

Before going too crazy with internal emulsion, remember it has had a coat of sealer and I gave it some Rapid Aqua Wax too.

happy to hear the paint is holding up :)

and congrats on the MOT pass especially given the length of this project :) (smaller advisory list then I was personally expecting too)

I guess all thats left to do now in terms of paperwork is Tax it?

Tax done.

I'd like a set of wheels for it though. I either need to find some Bedford HA wheels (original fitment) or a set of alloys. Quite fancy some slot mags, but they need to be 12"x4.5J with a 4x4" pattern.

could you use vauxhell chefette 13's?

isnt that the same pcd as mini wheels? i'm thinking late mini mayfair or mg metroid for allys

Well done on the MOT pass. Could I borrow some of your luck for the Focus MOT on Wednesday? ?

13s too big. 12s are what's needed.

Are narrow 13s with 70 profile too big? Just thinking that choice in 12 is pretty crap these days.

101.6mm = 4"

so proper mini wheels will work

Hillman Imp 12" wheels or indeed Imp fitment alloys will also fit Foxanne . ☺️

Congratulations getting Foxanne on the road. It's come a very long way. I'm impressed. The video series has been most enjoyable.

The offset is quite a bit out. Would need about 3/4" spacers on the back or else the tyres would be rubbing the leaf springs.

Today, I put about 50 miles on the Fox, including a trip to the new unit to replace diff and gearbox oil. So nice to have working space around the car! The Fox is a big hit with the birds too...

The diff seemed to have no oil in it whatsoever, while the gearbox definitely took more than it dropped. Worth doing then!

She's not going too badly, but I still need to try and set the ignition timing properly. I have at least three strobes, and can't currently find any of them...

60mph is just about possible, but it's hard work, and the temp gauge sits right at the top of 'I'm not scared just yet' when pushing on. Some tweaking to do I think. On the plus side, you don't really need to slow down much for bends it seems, even on shit tyres...

no oil in the diff? good thing ya checked!, could of been a nasty surprise (especially if the diff sized solid or something at 60)

have to say the fox makes a nice engine noise :)

Yeah, I've had that happen in an LDV Convoy, it was "exciting" to say the least.

We're not actually 100% certain if the gearbox seized first and detonated the diff or vice-versa...a significant portion of both wound up strewn over about 1/4 of a mile of the A90 just north of Dundee however.  The total lack of oil on the road was quite obvious and most likely was a major factor we think.

All seems happy enough thankfully. Tomorrow, I need to try and get to the bottom of why the engine feels so flat. It's going to be a long old drive if she doesn't perk up a bit. Given the gearing and the theoretical power, I was expecting her to sit noisily but happily at 60.
