No, but good guess...

Tried to awaken the Dyane today, in preparation for Rustival and other events - and guess which knobhead forgot to disconnect the battery last time he ran the engine?  So pancaked it won't even take a charge.

Still it was getting on a bit and GSF is having a '10% off' weekend, so a hi-po Yuasa has been ordered (collect Tuesday from Smethwick, when I am conveniently working in that glamorous part of Birmingham) for £30 less than Halfords wanted.  Merveilleux.

In non-operational Blingo news, the very excellent @worldofceri is shifting it down to Spanners' new gaff in Alvechurch on Monday for a spot of TLC.  Please cross your collective fingers.

GSA looks tiny compared with the Blingo!

BLINGO UPDATE: looks like it is indeed the ECU, so a replacement is being sourced, as well as everything downstream that needs doing at the same time.  Is this sensible?  Arguably not.  Am I going to spend the money anyway?  Yes, yes I am, because I really like this car.

DYANE NEWS: while changing the 20W50 running-in* oil for Total Racing 10W30, we discovered some evidence of an exhaust blow on the offside.  This was due to a loose exhaust manifold nut, so as a precaution they were all changed for the flanged BMW items we use on the racer, then torqued down properly.  An iffy inlet manifold stud was sorted too (helicoil) while we were in there.  The car was then lent to Laurence for the week for a proper tune-up.  This thing FLIES!!

ACHTUNG!: the C180K continues to perform to specification.

Is the GSA back on the road? Good to see the fleet getting some love.

This is the Plan of Spanners, who owned it when we did Scally Rally... EIGHTEEN BLOODY YEARS AGO!!!

It's closer to the road than it's been in a very long time.  @Stinkwheel did some fine work on it, which Spanners will finish off 😎

I hope an HDI tuning one with 125bhp?

That's what it had.  The remapper claims it had nothing to do with the ECU failure...

OK, it's been a while...

The Dyane went to Rustival in March (and is booked in to Rustival 2.0 next month) then spent an excellent week or so in April touring Normandy and Brittany.

The C180K continues to perform with Teutonic efficiency, though it did need a new exhaust recently - but at 19 years and 181000 miles, I thought this reasonable!

The Blingo remains immobile but, thanks once more to the excellent @Talbot and his amazing A-frame, the ex- @bub2006 Partner arrived this afternoon...

Meanwhile, down on the farm, preparation of #48 for the 2CV 24-hour race over the bank holiday weekend continues apace, so we can do more of THIS... 😎

Surprised that's still there; tank lickers pay silly money for german stuff and a scruffy nazi rust pile is a dubious way to commemorate the liberation of Normandy.

Not able to do the National, but it would be RLY RLY GD to meet up as you go past!  Haven't seen either of you for far too long.

It spent 30 years poking out of a roadside ditch on the hill down to Vimoutiers and was moved to its present position when the road was improved in the mid-70s (the Dyane is parked on the old road) - it's on a concrete base and is probably very well secured!

🤣 They would have to be very determined and well equipped thieves to shift 50+ tonnes of reluctant Herman The German. I suspect the only way its going anywhere is either a crane lift or the tracks removed with a gas axe and hope the bogey wheels still turn to drag it onto a low loader.

Any possibility of some spare berlingo front seats do you think? The ones in the van are beyond roached.

It's owned by the municipality - missing the engine and various bits. There is an ongoing debate about moving it to a purpose-created museum in the town.

There is quite a lot of kit dotted about in the towns and villages. The area is where the Battle of Normandy came to an end:

All excellently set out at the memorial on the hillside at Montormel:

What isn't wrong with it 😂

I've heard the words coming out of Talbot when he's in that position at the FoD, I assume it's a little bit nicer laying on a clean*concrete floor inside 🤔
