Been told its a "1960-1961 Ferrari 250 GT berlinetta SWB....1 of 176 made.. Worth between £5-7 million"

The driver hopped out and nipped into the local Co-Op for some milk...

Aye. Full kudos for going shopping in that. I don't get very giddy about Ferraris, but these and 288GTOs make me go all wibbly.

Probably one of my old bosses - I used to say "Would you use a Ferrari to shop at Sainsbury?" when they asked me to do something that they were paying me five times too much for.

The MoT computer I built hasn't broken yet. I know it's only been 3 days so far, but I'm hopeful. Because of the "spend no money" policy it's a 9 year old acer laptop running debian instead of XP.

AE has mostly got the hang of the web interface, I showed him how to use training mode so he isn't playing with it during an actual test. He did ask me how to turn it on and off though. Thankfully I had anticipated that, so all you do is press the power button and wait. If it's on it will do a safe shutdown and if it's off it boots, logs in, loads a browser and opens the MoT login page.

Fingers crossed, this might not be as bad as I thought. I even have a spare laptop ready with the same system to swap over if the Acer has a smoke escape moment.

I also showed him the vehicle enquiry page at gov.uk and let him check MoT status on a few random cars. He now thinks I'm some sort of wizard... :D

The mystery of the fuel* on the driveway has hopefully been solved.

A few days ago, a puddle of oil was seen underneath the back of the bora, this is post turbo swap and other fettling. A quick check, hmmm veg, I wonder where that came from. I then cover the puddle with absorbent dust.

The next day I get the bora on the ramp in the garage, no leak can be seen and the underneath is dry - odd.

After leaving the Merc at the garage a puddle of oil is seen under the fuel tank of the Merc at the garage .. arses think I, that'll be a fuel tank needed for the Merc.

Today the Merc was put on the ramp and oil is seen underneath but not leaking from the fuel tank, it's coming from a drain in the spare wheel well. Some Muppet (me) must have had a leaking veg container in the back of the Merc ... Yay, I'm an idiot and nowt is broken.

Would you trust a transit handbrake or a mong reversing in to it though?

Are you 100% sure it isn't a datsun 240z?

Last weekend Mrs Lobster and I drove the R4 on a 1400 mile round trip to a car show. As you do.

But it was 4L International and it was an absolutely superb weekend so well worth it.

I'm not going to bang loads of photos here but if you need a Renault fix then they are on my flickr - https://www.flickr.com/photos/mr_lobster/

Through in Edinboghorror for a mate's wedding. Swanky £180 a night place with folded bogroll and all sorts. SWMBO and I have taken the chance to make a weekend of it so packed up and came through tonight.

Hotel car park has been improved immeasurably...

Had a conversation with the boss of the storage firm where all my stuff is. The lock, which was both new and EXPENSIVE 18 months ago is soooooo seized no amount of peeing around with it is going to get me in there...

Without asking, he (the boss of said firm) has contacted the lock maker and they have told him to cut it off and give me a new lock free of charge. This, I did not expect! So tomorrow I will brave my fears and venture into the inside of the unit where I have never been before and see just what my wife allowed me to have from the house.

I shall find my Autoglym kit and car polish and wax and stuff and spend an hour or six cleaning the dolllop  as I have never polished it in a year... unheard of!

Chompy has been improving the Xantia.  First, he adjusted the handbrake properly so one front brake isn't stuck half on all the time and now the rear calipers aren't overcompensating and dragging too, that helped performance noticably and bad on me for not sorting this out myself.  Then, he twiddled with two little things related to the turbo.  He resisted twiddling them all the way, he's only twiddled them a tiny little bit.  Now I've gone from being able to keep up with him with consummate ease in the Rover to being left in a cloud of metaphorical dust even when I'm trying to keep up.  I did not know you could tune a 1.9td Xantia estate and to be honest I was never interested in that side of things but now I've seen it done I don't know why more people don't do it!

When my ZX is a bit better and at a good state of fettle I'm gonna ask the SVM which bits to twiddle. Just a little bit, enough to have some fun on me commute but still keep the fuel bills reasonable

Always carried on the shoulder like a bricky who has lost his hod.

Last year i didn't drive a SORNed car from Co. Kerry to London for a pre-booked MOT. In fairness I booked an MOT in Pembroke by the ferry but got delayed so the place was shut and I certainly didn't carry on to London.

Verdict - 3 hour drive is nothing, he'll be fine. a big deal - don't do it.

I did three journeys to Coventry for a pre booked mot on the m6, nearly 1000 miles.

I've cycled a mile and a half to work twice this week and both the bikes are still there at the bottom of the hill.

I really miss cycling to work. Unfortunately my commute is 40 miles each way & I'm not up for that!
