What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I've had no problems with BT since going to Super Fast internet and get about 33meg etc.

The past few days it's been a pain in the arse with Page Unavailable reports.

It's not a grump as I was just searching for solutions and the page came up as unavailable...  :-P  and had to laugh at the irony.

Mr_Claypole: if the symptoms are that the internet is working but you cannot view lots of web pages this could be down to the dns servers. I usually change the default ones set on the router to faster/better ones as I find dns servers provided by ISPs are not always the best. I've had plusnet & T-mobile dns servers go down before.

My Nissan has HID lights, they are fucking shit, half the time only one of them comes on and you have to turn the lights on and off a few times before both of them wake up. Typical crummy Chinese shite fitted by barries

My last Saab 9000 was the same.  Unreliable and with a totally shit beam (due to the arc being in the wrong place in relation to the reflector) so I couldn't see a thing.

I've just fitted some Osram Nightbreakers to the Rover of Doom - great improvement.  The Toyota might be getting a pair soon as that also has fairly rubbish lights.

Saw my first Mahindra utility today, I had seen that Mahindras were on sale here but this was a surprise spot at the supermarket. First thought as it turned into the carpark ahead of me was "That's fugly, what the fug is it?" These photos are from the dealer site and taken with a wide angle lens. It's short, narrow and high (bout 6' tall), looking like it would fall over in a low wind. I would try desperately not to be seen in one.

Just been listening to the 80's radio station, I was just thinking about a song I loved as a kid and haven't heard in about 35 years.... and there it is!!!! Damn, I miss the 80's so much, so many things I should have done but didn't.

i appear to have a self repairing car, i put a new set of lifters in my saph when the head gasket, timing chain etc was changed, did 6000 miles then one lifter on the inlet side started loudly ticking, its been like this for another good few thousand doing my bloody head in, i tried flushing with diesel on an oil change and nothing, then the day after i changed my fuel tank the ticking stopped, i am still bemused by this, it may come back but it sounds lovely for now.

Not car related but....

Some of you may be aware of this bloke already, but seeing someone post onto Dugong's FB page has prompted me to share on here.

Basically a variation on the "all the right notes, just in a different order" Morecambe and Wise gag, or the Les Dawson piano routine, taking modern pop songs and "retuning" them.

I hate this song with a passion, but somehow this bloke makes it better....

Didn't Mahindra sell some 4x4s in the UK in the early 90's?   Bet none left now.

A radio ad recently informed me that apparently Mahindra is the bestselling tractor brand in the world.

My new license turned up today. Fair play to the post office, seems its a very good service! No doubt it'll be canned in a year to save a few pounds a year or something...

My points have vanished too! Not sure how long I need to still declare them to the insurance though...

They did. I can remember one for sale at £400 when it was a year old because it needed a gearbox.

The licence is being canned in a few weeks isn't it? Insurance companies normally want to know about things for five years from the date of incident/offence.

The old Mahindra jeep things are quite popular. Ancient Peugeot engine and good off road. That new thing is just hilarious!

Remember that mad vid from a few months back from Indonesia or somewhere?

It has a bunch of nutcases racing down steep rainforest trails on karts made of bits of scrap wood, solid wooden wheels etc.

Well, I had a go myself today:

They sure did.  This one was mine.  It was ace!  Bit slow on the motorway though.

Back to Mahindra... their local website.

http://mahindraauto4-px.rtrk.co.nz/

Run the cursor over the NEW MAHINDRA words, click on the Jeep and a specs page will download. At the bottom of the page is the line.... Unable to be registered for road use....anyone want one now?

Quote Car Magazine the good bad and the ugly:

Cue chassis plates being ground off. Unless there's only a handful of that model left, how will they be sure enough to seize it?

Mine's been doing that too, as have other people I've spoken too. Been a bit iffy today as well, but better.
