The Bullseye that was on before had an early Mk3 Fiesta as Bully's Special Prize, but the guy fluffed it by three points.

Hey, just got a quote for myself and my daughter (18, provisional licence) on that 206 and it's only £431 fully comp!

I cried when I rang the insurance to say id passed, was on a 206 2.0hdi though. Was £420 a month for the 4 months remaining from £220 with my stepdad on the policy iirc. I paid up...

Oh aye, will certainly go up if she passes and I'm main driver, but as a tool to help her learn to drive in I can't argue with the price.

Posted

Fucking crazy the insurance prices now, so that looks like a bargain.

Worth doing! You don't get many driving lessons with a driving school these days for £400! Maybe 15-20 hours tops?

Remember this RAV4?

At Shitefest 2013 we tore it a new one by trying to reverse the ex-Chompy Rover uphil on the A-frame. Anyway, it has been festering in the weeds since then (well over a year).

Today I was having a bit of a tidy up, and just for lolz, stuck a battery in it, and guess what? It only bloody fired straight up first touch, sweet as a nut :D

(Shit pic of shifting it today:)

Toyotas eh?

My MR2 did the same after nearly as long parked up. If only they didn't rot...

Talking to my mate's Dad today reminded me of the first time I met him, some 30 years ago. On that occasion, I remember him letting out a rip-roaring fart, and exclaiming "Fuck! With a bit more choke that bastard would've started!"

Was walking back to my halls through the Asda car park (it's right next to the halls and 24 hour - love it).

There was a completely standard (except maybe slightly lowered) dark green Mk3 Golf five door on seven-spoke GTi alloys.

Across the bottom of the windscreen was a grey sticker - OLLI, with the first O replaced with a VW badge.

Never seen anything so daft.

hunting for Chinese copy cars today, this popped up.

May not be Chinese though.

Excellent meal with Conrad D Conelrad and Junkman this evening, to celebrate the latter's purchase of this:

Ouote "my son's project car, lots of money spent on it, then hedidn't want it". Now he has buggered off and left daddy to get rid of it.

Is that upholstery good or really really bad ?

Volskangyl would love it! He could crochet that up in no time! I quite like it, certainly doesn't look quite as bad in that car!

That interior is fantastic. Might not think so after 12 pints and a few vodkas though.

Parents are watching an old episode of 'A Touch of Frost' and Jack Frost has just been in a scrapyard full of shite. Loads of Metros, Maestros and Montegos, four Mk1 Fiestas, a brown Talbot Horizon, a Renault 11 and a pile of three R5s, two Fiat Regatas and a Strada, and two FSO Polonez on top of one another

I just popped on ebay and dropped on Magnex doing a 50% off clearance sale, so I've just bought a new stainless exhaust for the modern for "only" £240. Considering I was almost ready to pay double that a few weeks ago I'm reasonably happy. It's less money than an OE backbox from Seat and I'm 100% not fitting any GSF shit to this thing.

In a bid to relive my youth of occasionally cadging rides in RS turbos and staring in awe at the boost guage cobbled in the heater vents, I fitted this today:

Only mine goes to 17psi instead of the 8psi I used to see as a lad. And I mainly fitted it to help me keep the fucker off boost in the hope of achieving more than 20mpg.

Was watching Last of the Summer Wine earlier (I know) but instead of going down a hill in a bath they went to a mid 90s scrapyard. Lots of Maestros and Sierras, a MK2 Escort, Russet Brown Allegro and a knackered Princess.

My Alfa 159 had a boost gauge and it was one if my favourite things about it. It just taps into everything childish I still like about cars .

Posted

It's quite satisfying both managing to keep it under -5 at all times, but then even more childishly satisfying leathering it and watching it fly round up to max.

This one wipes up and down when you turn the key on like something off a Top Gear supercar, apart from it grinds away like cheap remote control car turning lock to lock. The manufacturers call it an "opening ceremony". It's really not that impressive.

Posted

My juke does that. When you press the start button all the lights come on and the speedo and rev counter go right over to the right and back then the car starts . It's good the first 10 times then you're just like hurry up and start already .
