I CAN HAZ NOO TOY:

(Obligatory rubbish petrol station collection shot.)

It tows like an absolute dream. Silent and smooth (empty anyway). I can see this opening up a whole new world of shite-based possibilities...

I flipping love the A-frame for shifting motors. It's convenient, stable and safe when it's done right. I'm not too bothered about the slightly wooly legality of that method but it does limit me to "legitimate-looking" rigs (tow car + towed). I don't include Will's "205 pulling a scrap 306 diesel" in that!

So with a trailer, we can haul absolute wrecks about, axles missing etc, without bother. This does of course mean that we need a hefty-looking motor to pull it with, now the Subaru Ferreter has gone to pastures new (Zippy, GDH on here). I have plans for a fresh motor early next year. :)

In answer to your question Chris: No, it does not. Although they may become slightly less adventurous. :D

I bought a working Setright ticket machine yesterday.

Why do they let me out unsupervised?

Not heard of one of those before.  Does pulling the lever make it deliver a lengthy discourse on brake mean effective pressure and the merits of the Honda Prelude?

^^^ Brilliant.  But you forgot an elegy on the Scirocco Storm.  His dad invented it I think.

Setright speed mk3 if I'm not mistaken. Yup it was L.J.Ks father who invented the first 'insert' Setright ticket machine (the later ones with paper rolls like yours came later).

DO NOT get inquisitive on the inner workings of it and investigate by undoing the four screws at the handle end. There is a bloody large spring behind that and it will distribute the innards quite well around the room/house/shed/lavatory. The way to get in is via the other side. One screw (sometimes hidden under a lead seal)m remove end plate and then the top and bottom plates slide out. All parts are available for them still and a tiny few operators still use them.

I've rebuilt a few in my time.

The first time I tried a universal remote control I thought to myself "this changes everything"........

Sweet man! Will you be jumping on random busses and selling tickets to unsuspecting bus users?

Did the Math and found the Pug of Vegness has saved me roughly £630 so far in my ownership plus £150 from the man who biffed it in the bum.

Therefore I am +£780 of which I am going to spend £300 getting refurbed rear axle fitted on Thursday. Bargainilicious

A small thing but I watched Gone Girl at the cinema on Saturday. A car with a staring role is the wonderful Ford Festiva (a.k.a. Mazda 121, Kia Pride).

Wife was amused that spotting the Ford was the most animated I got throughout the whole production.

Kwik Fits are a franchise I think?   Therefore some good most bad.

The one near my parents used to be OK (about 20 years ago).   I went in there in the summer and it took them several minutes to acknowledge I was there and then a further few minutes to establish that I wanted to buy a 'tyre', I wanted it fitted to a 'car' and if at all possible I would like it done 'today'.   All of these seemed to be foreign terms to them.

The one near me was good at sorting out my problem (knackered brake caliper needed replacing) quickly, but failed on the doing it well as I found out when my driveway was covered in brake fluid the next day.

Sold my old golf to a mate of mine, the exhaust was blowing a bit:

a new backbox was £14 so instead he welded on a big sheet of steel that we cut off the side of an old van.

I'm just going to mention Detectorists again, as I'm going to be quite sad when it ends. It's been the best thing on the telly for quite a while.

At least it got more than the three episodes you usually get. I'm pretty sure it will get a second series, it seems to have been well received.

Just downloaded this to watch this evening.

I was like that with Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. Held it together (just) when Kat Jennings was on screen, lost it with the Yugo and bawled like a baby when they demolished a fire hydrant with it. The cunts.

What I said at work : "I wouldn't want a Samba as I wouldn't want to bring it to work."

What was reported to HR that I said: "I don't like Sambos because they don't want to work."

We all saw the funny side. And when I say We, I mean me. And not HR.

:-D   You need to buy a Samba and complain loads when you take it to work.

Was working yesterday, little tip here for any adults wanting to travel on a child's ticket. Make sure if you say you are 15 the date of birth you make up doesn't make you 14.

FACT. I once got child's bus fare when I was 21. Unprompted. I asked how much, driver said how much, I paid and only looked at my ticket when I sat down. Now you know why I grew a beard. It stopped me looking like I was 12.

I find the best way to stop my missus going on about films, or parts thereof, is not to take her to watch them in the first place.
