What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I was just looking at the 2011 Census data. Out of the 332 people in my census area, only 26 of us don't have a passport. We should form a club and then not go on a coach trip to Holland.

Whilst being a right miserable bastard as per, I suddenly happened upon an idea to punish some of the double parking cockwarblers I see about. I shall post more details if it works.

Whilst washing mrs fordpervs car, the postman came bearing gifts, stuff that was posted 2nd class on Monday which came within an hour of an expressed delivery which also was posted Monday but with a courier, my grin for this morning is with postman pat and friends for speedy delivery

Myself and a colleague are debating the pistonheads hoon 2014 (not seriously) and thinking that we pay up in full, and drive a deisel vauxhall meriva with bald tyres running on veg, but smoke £90 cigar and drink £2k brandy from the bottle the whole trip

A post in the confessions thread reminded me of something that happened when I worked in a Honda dealership.

Customer booked in for a service and said that im not paying your massive price for oil , i will supply my own.

Nothing unusual in this .

When the car came in I was on spanner duty and got the job.Grabbed the keys and drove it in the workshop , boot opened to get oil .

A whole litre bottle !!! With a price sticker on it for more than our charge . No wonder she thought we were dear, was tempted to just put the one litre in and drive it out.

After years of dismissing MG/Rover cars due to my ignorance and so called poor reputation by Internet Haterz I now own two of them. As a result I am now a convert.

Thats all. As you were....

Aye, I tried that line of thought as well.
It ended in the predictable cloud of steam, hammers and a call to the scrapyard to take the remains away.

I'll listen to my own judgement/prejudice from now on. ;)

The cloud of steam is often not what it appears!

A £6 inlet manifold gasket may well save the day/car.

^ this. They nearly always go between cylinders 3 & 4. A couple of hours on the spanners sorts it out, although that fucking dipstick tube is a bastard, always in the way.

There's possibly a thread in 'cars that you thought were shit but really like now.'  Was never a fan of Peugeots and Volvos until I'd owned a couple, then they grew on me.

I work as a college caretaker,  we have a policy of not allowing students to park on campus although a good excuse will let them stay.

A sports student with a Pug 107 has been taking the piss for ages but always leaves when I'm not around,  tonight he came back from a football match to find an abandoned LDV minibus blocking off the bit of the car park that him and 2 friends had parked in.  I'm not very good at giving bollockings but I did my best.

Part one of my plan initiated this afternoon. It looked like it was going to be a success, but I'll hopefully find out better tomorrow.

That was me until I bought a Volvo, and then bought a Peugeot a couple of months ago, I think they're great.

Although Volvo's are absolutely impossible to sell, unless it's a 340.

Professor Alice Roberts likes Nine Inch Nails. Sadly, I discovered this on Twitter and I feel ashamed for using Twitter. Clearly, it really does just provide me with trivial information. Was tempted to reply to her tweet with some NIN lyrics. Those from Closer perhaps.

That doesn't surprise me, since big Ovlovs are a purchase for life, then get passed on to the children, who will thence pass them on to the grandchildren, and so on.

This car I thought was to expensive for what looked like a soggy trouble maker in an undesirable colour set.

Then someone bought it recently for £1900.  I would have said they'd paid too much until I saw their pictures of the same car which show it in a far better light.

Best of all, they're keeping a build thread and planning to use it daily.

Just goes to show how much difference good pictures can make and I'm delighted to see another one making its way back onto the road and into use.

It's a very nice car. I regret not buying an unused Maximiser fuel computer for £30 recently.
