That's fantastic news, Vulg. I'm glad you've got the R6 mojo back. It would have been a shame to have gotten this far then abandon it for something else. As said before, I agree that a BX is still a fairly common sight on the roads but I don't remember seeing a R6 since I was little so on the basis of rarity I think the Renno is a smart project to undertake. That's gonna turn more heads then the modern shit on the road today. Fantastic drawings too, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them on here soon. Take a bow my friend.

Beige Princess - decisions have been made about the work to do on it, I am now making a concerted effort to put aside the £2000ish for a full respray and panel repair.

Will this be in the original beige, or the purple (Aconite?) you were originally going to paint it in? Great news either way.

@Green:  That 6 makes such a happy noise!  I would definitely have been a fool to pass up on that.  Why had I not bothered to search for Renault 6 videos I wonder?

@Dicky: I reckon I still want it Aconite with a Champagne roof, but I can't deny the Champagne is great at looking clean even when it's filthy which I'm sure Aconite won't.

My Black Tulip Super Minx was surprisingly good at hiding the dirt, and Aconite isn't that far off.

You may be pleasantly surprised. Or not. YMMV.

Just made the last payment on the pickup truck sat outside, whoop!

Next month I'll be able to say the same thing about the living/dining room furniture, so that'll be over half a grand extra a month.

Already told SWMBO the GTA is going back on the road this year, after putting it off completely last year. She said "Mm-hmm."

Noncommittal SWMBO "agreement"!

Doesn't get much better than that :D

What you doing in my neck of the woods?

I'd bring the GTA and come say hello, but it's still broken. Most of the chod in NO washed away during Katrina.

If you want to see chod, go to Slidell, on the North Shore.

I've really enjoyed it but as you say there's 0 chod although I did see someone driving a rough looking silver shadow earlier. I also saw someone with the name randy h am, Which pretty much made my day.

Ah, figures! Well, hope you enjoyed it, you caught the weather in very not SE Louisiana fashion also!

Great R6 vid. I love these old Froggies with the dash mounted gear shift. Is the one in the R6 the same pattern as the 2CV, does anyone know, or is the traditional H gate?

Posted

My 1973 Renault 5 had a conventional pattern. Citroens have dog-leg first because they're so sporty. PHACT.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the lower half of one of my neighbours protruding from the engine bay of an H reg Landy Defender.

When I asked if any help was needed she said "no, I'm only changing the speedo cable".

SHE?!

Anyway, I've had interest in the GS. I can almost guarantee AS won't like what he's got planned for it, mind.
He seems to have active projects rather than sad sob stories.

It was very hard to write that in a politically correct way but I expect you all read between the lines and guessed the truth.

Nice arse Phwoar  :-D

After the fun* you've had, anything that gets it sold and money in the bank/amazon would be a relief

Right, spoke to the holiday company today and I have officially been offered the job in France. I'll be leaving England in about 3 to 4 weeks time. Initially I'll be working there for 5 months, then I'll have to take a 2 month 'holiday' due to residency restrictions. They told me that if I do well, after the 2 month holiday they may give me a 10 month contract.

I'll be getting free accomodation and use of a car + a few hundred over £1k in my sky-rocket. I'm well happy but a little scared too as its basically a change of life that'll be happening in a few weeks. Expect some French tin-snail spots from yours truly.

Bloody excellent, enjoy it! Have to say I'm a little bit jealous :) Sounds like that could be really good.

Awesome. The purists, the restorers and the sentimentals have had enough of a chance so if it's something "not to like" or the bridge, it has to be the way to go. I'll still give you two days tops before someone moans about how it's a waste etc etc.

Are we allowed to guess what's not to like? Will it be a GS-based ONELIFELIVVIT SJ410-chassised offroader? How about a GS limo in pink hired out to drunk slappers on hen weekends?
