Hello?

Hey, it's Dugongfromautoshite.  I've found most of a Princess in a skip, do you want it?

Hell yeah!

So that's a thing that just happened.

Indeed. Banger lads were super-sound and let me pick a load of the spares out of the skip for VA, all for nowt. It's being raced in April in Stoke, apparently.

What's even weirder is that this car was less than two miles from where I've lived on and off for the past ten years and I'd never seen it until today.

I have belated christmas money from my gran so I'm going to rob everything I can off that Princess.  EVERYTHING.

They said I could have most of the stuff off it as I was leaving.

Do you want me to skip dive tomorrow?

Posted

I have satnav, I have petrol, I have free time.  I could come over and skip dive with you tomorrow.

I hope they paint it beige in your honour!

Well, before 2. I have to go to work (LOL).

I think the car will be back at the garage in Altrincham then. Give the fella a call tomorrow morning and see what the craic is. Failing that just come down to the unit and pick up your bits.

Posted

I will do that, or a variation thereof.  Since I was up at 5am today (OHGODSWHY) there's a good chance I'll be up before 2pm tomorrow.

You have my number, but give the garage \ blokey a bell in the morning to see where the car is.

I will do that tomorrow in the morning times.  Then I will call you also in the morning times.  Then I will drive a few miles to get the free things and it will be good.

My company, who 'sacked me off' >> moved me to another afilliated company, and it was so $hit, I left >> then immediately took me back as before, but as a Contractor - don't work = don't eat - now have offered me PAYE for more than I'm on as a Contractor  WIN :)

Free van + fone, still so no loss there ;)

I will get holiday pay now.... last year I took two weeks in Spain = cost me £Holiday + 2 weeks £wages... EXPENSIVE ffinn holiday!!

Should probably be in the 'grumpy' thread, but I'm selling a Carrera mountain bike and I've just discovered it seems to be the cycling equivalent of a cheap Ford Mondeo with tax and MOT.

Every pissing clown and his wife are offering me swaps for PS3s, remote control cars and BMX bikes.

I'm actually quite sad I cant go skip diving lol. Used to get loads around the office park, many a good PC or mobile from within. Iirc all the ring binders I used for college came from a skip

The skip appears to have gone and I reckon the car will now be at the garage.

Also I read that post in the Nigerian scammer's voice from Phonejacker. Really scans, Mexico etc.

I have saved one of these from the skip today

Seems like it's all there, boxed up with leads and whatnot but can I find a 9v supply around the house?  I'm sure theres at least 3 of the buggers hiding somewhere.  The better half has won herself a free iphone in a promo but I'd rather have this :)

Brilliant! Got one for Christmas many moons back and it was like the greatest present EVER. I bet playing one now would be one massive LOL all the way through, though at the time they were considered very 'hi tec'.

I remember having one of these when I was a bairn. I say I remember having one, I suspect my old man bought it for himself but by letting me play with it for 2 minutes justified the purchase.

I was just cheating to get the answer to 3 down on the Practical Classics crossword:

3 ______ Radford, maker of the Mini DeVille

so typed it into Google but my fat fingers typed in Mimi Deville who it seems is a bongo movie actress from such cinematic classics as 'Old Cocksuckers 6' and 'Kneepad Nympho's 7'.

Did cause some initial confusion before I noticed what I had done.

Looks like VA got a good haul of spares from the Hale Princess. It's like a really dreary fairy tale with grey skies, rot and a Chinese takeaway adjacent.

That section of Altrincham really is shite central. There's a dead 928S4 in a garden, the filling station on the corner and a bloke on the hill with a Metro and Herald trowled to the gunwales with wob.

Might be worth staying in touch with the racers and getting the suspension and brake bits after it's been raced.

I met him the other day, he seems like a nice enough bloke but not the chatty sort. I've seen him in an orange Austin 1100 too.

SNEAK PEEK!

Just been tooling about in this after a great pub lunch (Royal Oak at Wineham, good beer and mega hot barmaids), it's bloody superb. Really not like any other 1950s car I've driven, it's dynamically (hoho!) fantastic and great fun on quiet twisty roads. Screaming flat twin and bouncy suspension make it feel like a big Ami 6 but it's less leany and a little more dignified. It also cost less than a really nice Ami 6...

Yep, that's the same car. Apparently it had been under a car port in Hale for several years.

Where was that photo taken?

VA has the plate off it now. The original plates were in the boot. I have some photos but they're on my camera and I'm at work for a wee while yet.

I'm going to ask a daft question now, What it's it Barrett?! Looks ace what ever it is though.

That Princess does look to be the same one, it looks pretty tidy too.

Posted

Princess is a massive waste, but it's good to hear VA managed to save some bits.

The car Barrett has been driving is a Panhard PL17 by the looks of it. A new acquisition?
