What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Having an offensive person on his weapon?

I think the actual crime was soliciting, something of a legal minefield from what little I know about the subject;

apparently its perfectly legal for 2 people to have sex and for money to change hands provided that neither party suggests money change hands at any point in the proceedings.

Hope that has clarified things a bit.

Well, I got the two persons being legally allowed to have sex thing (thanks god for that) but the rest is rather incomprehensible to me.

Anyway, speaking of crime, I've managed to find videos on youtube of Crimewatch from the 80s ane early 90s, absolute moustache and chod galore where badly disguised robbers use Ford Sierras or Cortinas as getaway cars. There was one bizarre crime about an appeal in a 1988 episode of Crimewatch were Devon and Cornwall policewanted to speak to some mush called 'John Cheeseman' and his wife 'Jacqueline Brown' about the discovery of cut up shells of then brand new top of the range Fords dumped in the middle of Dartmoor.

Oh yeh, and for the videos, look for someone called 'Chironss' seems to have quite a few old Crimewatch programmes uploaded, he also seems to have the Dutch equivalent from around the same years.

German/Dutch whatever.... I wasn't exactly paying attention.

Tesco have got £1 per litre veg oil in again now, and they're doing that £5 off when you spend over £40 thing again. I've emptied the shelves at one store and filled the car up again in their car park.

I can't see the problem myself?.I had to do the same thing to rescue my daughters nova from Basingstoke about 10 years ago, some chopper had tried to break the steering lock and sheared off the wheel while she was at college, she was in the AA but they refused to rescue her so I had to drive out and sort it out, was going to tow it but thought under the circumstances it would probably be safer for me to drive as she had only had her licence a couple of months, so she drove my 450 SLC while i drove this, kept the wheel handy so i could do a steering "mime" if i saw any coppers!

Completed 3 commissions and one extra picture today.  This has brought my list of commissions owed from before my health issues down to just 3 items, one of which can be discounted on account of a perpetual ditherer who sometimes takes 6 months to 2 years to decide what he wants after payment has been made.  I can now start taking on new and exciting work and rather than worrying about whether or not I make money I'm going to enforce a policy of only saying yes to stuff I feel creatively enthused about so I don't end up going down the same miserable path I had before.

I decided to pursue art as a career so I got some enjoyment out of my job, not so I got stuck in a rut doing something I hate.  Now is the time to turn that around.  I already have an Allegro picture in mind to draw up and numerous other things of an Autoshitey nature and I can't wait to get started on it.  Watch this space, hopefully I'll start producing something worthwhile this year and be happier to boot.

@Wat:  I saw the rain and thought "yay, I decided not to wash my car" but I hope to get it done tomorrow, Princess is overdue a scrub.

Went to the french car show at castle combe yesterday with the Hotchkiss. It only went and won a trophy for best classic. I felt such a fraud collecting a prize of cleaning products as I hadn't even washed it unlike all the other entrants who had spent hours polishing everything.

Standing around in the garage while it rains, with a mug of tea, finding old relics from the 70’s and 60’s. Ah. Simple pleasures.

If you don't want the cleaning products to go to waste you can always throw them at me. :P

Picking up a slightly battered BMC Workshop manual for an Austin A40 for the princely sum of 50p.

This made me LOL

Nicked this and bunged it on the FCF.  Thangyouverymuch :)

I will admit to some perplexity at first.

Went to the jewel* of the north Cleethorpes. Spent best part of an hour looking for a parking space same as eleventy million people. Too late, here comes the vulcan.

Everyone just got out of their cars, and for five minutes just watched awestruck. It was a shared group experience. Then we all got back in our cars and started being cnuts to each other again.

I trust you got the 'babes' to pose with a bored expression next to it like this fella and his Clio

Passing the entrance to a housing estate on my way to work and seeing the aforementioned P-reg private hire LDV Convoy minibus tidemark edition receiving a jumpstart from an elderly Berlingo van so it could start the day's work for its lucky new hirer.

I *might* have found an answer to all my storage problems. There is a barn that might be free soon and I am on the top of the waiting list, its clean and dry, ok not as close as Sutton Coldfield but, it means I can actually get all my cars in one place hopefully. I could probably get 5 cars in at a push which is how many I currently own, but I'll be wanting to store alot of my car parts there which might take up as much room as a Micra. We'll see how it pans out.

I am off abroad at the end of this week, I seriously cannot wait to go, I need to get out of here and have a change of scenery. Also I met someone at work who knows of a good recruitment agency, hopefully it'll lead to a contract job for the first time in my life. If not, my current agency seem to be quite good, despite me making an arse of myself at my old job and subsequently being asked to leave the premises.

Yes, barn, new job etc... all seem up in the air at the moment but its given a slight boost in confidence and a better outlook for the future.

I've got a really positive buzz about my artwork again.  I'm actually genuinely looking forward to the coming week and getting some decent stuff done for the first time in a very long time indeed.  I'm not sure exactly what's caused it, but I feel like a massive psychological burden has been lifted and now I've got that same joie de vivre toward this job that I had when I made the decision to go this route several years ago.

I’m quite sure the brunette has a pert little arse and her and her mate fancy Cavette

I've just been reading some PDF info pack for some wheel refurb system cos we're after a small spray booth thing at work since the apprentices are fucking wimps and moan about the smell when I matt black a guage surround or something.

Anyway, this made me LOL in how insanely optimistic it was:

PROFIT EXAMPLE
Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Technician
Working day = 8hrs
Jobs Completed = 8 (Based on using Solaq 2 minute UV Oven)
Ave Charge per job = £50.00
Daily invoice Value = £400.00 (£96,000 per annum)
Materials used (ave) = 30.00
Daily Profit = £370.00
Weekly profit = £1,850.00 (5 day week)
NET annual profit = £88,800 (Based on 48 weeks)
Equipment cost = £11,605.00 (WR Pro Pack + UV Oven + WR Alloy Paint Booth)
Gross Profit = £76,5350 Year One

Well fuck me, why did I bother with years at uni training to be an electronic engineer when I could rattlecan alloy wheels all day and earn 3x as much! Plus another 11k profit if I just did them on the wheelie bin outside my nans house instead of using their fume extractor and UV oven bollocks.
Nevermind that you can get tyre-off, powdercoat refurbs done for £40 a corner all over the place, and even those guys aren't running flat out all day by any means!
