The ebay ad claimed it was a Ford Cargo chassis with a transit cab and L200 back end.

Why - was not made clear.

Oh aye, we solved it: He was from Wales

Whatever it is it looks like is wants to be put out of its misery, poor thing. That must have taken some work though!

According to the front page, Lankytim is having a birthday today. Happy 92nd, Tim!

Ordered a set of bushes and front flexi hoses for the Granada and the seller said he only had one flexi in stock, so I said send it anyway. Parcel arrived today... with a pair in. Well done, Old Parts Store! :D With a bit of luck it'll have brakes and possibly even an MoT by next weekend. Then we can start on the Metro... sigh.

Ahem...

Don't know how long it'll be before someone in charge notices this and pulls it but scroll down to just below the "30 second test".... :P

A few weeks ago I got chatting to a guy with a lock up opposite mine, he deals in Capri/old Ford parts and had just come back from Edinburgh with a van load of NOS bits. I mentioned I needed a cam kit for the Cortina and he said he did them for £70. Ebay wasn't coming up with the goods so I rang him today... "yeah, got one left, £40" so I wizzed round to his house this afternoon. His kitchen was like a back street motor factors circa. 1985 and his daily driver was outside... MK1 Capri with slot mags and 70's style rear spoiler. Had a chat about old Fords for about half an hour and he said he could sort me out with an exhaust manifold if mine turns out to be cracked (got about 3 tins worth of gun gum on the manifold/front pipe joint at the mo')

I think he must have just been made redundant from the Southampton line after 30 years service...

Cue Johnny Cash,

on the very next day when I punched in

With my big lunchbox and with help from my friends

I left that day with a lunch box full of gears

Now, I never considered myself a thief

GM wouldn't miss just one little piece

Especially if I strung it out over several years.

The first day I got me a fuel pump

And the next day I got me an engine and a trunk

Then I got me a transmission and all of the chrome

The little things I could get in my big lunchbox

Like nuts, an' bolts, and all four shocks

But the big stuff we snuck out in my buddy's mobile home.

Now, up to now my plan went all right

'Til we tried to put it all together one night

And that's when we noticed that something was definitely wrong.

The transmission was a '53

And the motor turned out to be a '73

And when we tried to put in the bolts all the holes were gone.

So we drilled it out so that it would fit

And with a little bit of help with an A-daptor kit

We had that engine runnin' just like a song

Now the headlight' was another sight

We had two on the left and one on the right

But when we pulled out the switch all three of 'em come on.

The back end looked kinda funny too

But we put it together and when we got thru

Well, that's when we noticed that we only had one tail-fin

About that time my wife walked out

And I could see in her eyes that she had her doubts

But she opened the door and said "Honey, take me for a spin."

So we drove up town just to get the tags

And I headed her right on down main drag

I could hear everybody laughin' for blocks around

More of a thought than a grin. Occurred to me while perusing the latest issue of Autocar.

Nosing at the new car data section and seeing the Proton Gen 2 scoring just 1 star - is the Gen 2 now where the FSO Polonez/Caro was 20-25 years ago... :?

went out to the local antique bookfair - I bought some books! My wife, who is not known for buying cars, bought a 2005 Citroen Dispatch 2.0HDi six seater!

Nice find Trig.

Makes me realise that I should take a lot more photos of stuff on the roads, before it becomes distant memories. "Remember when Ford built a Focus that looked like a Kia? Those where the days!"

I put the 740 in for it's MOT today expecting it to fail on the stuff I'd found, and waiting for the bad news that it would need things I hadn't even considered.

The bugger only went and passed this morning!

Still getting the replacement calliper fitted right enough but currently feeling the grin factor big style.

Wanting to go for a jaunt to celebrate...

The wheels are in motion for me to acquire the stripey BX. Good times.

^ :D Ah, the joy of the free market at work!

Looking forward to the epic tat collection/delivery story with suitably windswept photos.

My E30 318i Beemer conked out today , miss-fired like a bastard , woulndnt rev and was generally utter shit .

Dinnertime i soon diagnosed a couple of split vacuum hoses off the injection unit , a bit of hose from an old fire extinquisher for one and a piece of what looked like thick garden hose for the other soon had it running , fuel consumption was better by at least 5 MPG on the way home , Tickovers a bit high now but easy to adjust .

Went to my local BMW dealers who instead of laughing ordered me those two hoses and one other that looks iffy but is still holding for £30.13 all in with a weeks delivery from Germany.

The only time ive ever had a fucked car that was this cheap and easy to repair :D

Bought some stainless steel tyre valve caps off Ebay, with Porsche logo on the ends. £1.20.

What was I thinking? Now red rusty after TWO days and three out of the four logos have fallen off.... Had to laugh!

That will teach me! Back to the shite cross threading black plastic ones scavenged from the floor at the Tesco petrol station compressor. Normal service resumed then.

The only time I ever bought fancy valve caps they didn't stay on the car long enough to rust. Couple of days later they'd gone, and I'm sure I saw a very similar set on one of the local kid's bmx bike!:lol:

That Edinburgh Flickr page is brilliant. Edinburgh's not really changed that much at all.

Not really a fan of bodykitted cars but this C5 V6 is a bit funky. 8)

The outside is ok (it looks a bit like a Vectra B, so therefore automatically goes into WINNER status) but the interior colour is vile.

Work paid everyone a bonus - first time in living memory :)

:(

Spent three times that much on a new suit for my #1 son's imminent wedding and look like bloody Van Morrison in it.

On the very rare occasion I wear a suit (hatches, matches & dispatches) I look like I've stolen it.
