ScaryOldCortina, keep it up, this is quite, quite brilliant.. I played this for my neice, Grace, before, but she was too young to appreciate it. Every time she is round ours now, she aks to see "The man with the brown guitar". You have a fan!

Umm, and my sister too.

Top man. Thank you.

You can't really pretend it wasn't you if this happens.

Having a complete span of the bridge draped across the bow of your ship is a bit of a giveaway. :)

Just back from a nice few hours out. Met Sporty Shite again (cheers, Chris) then whazzed over to Oulton Park to watch some track day action and practise taking pictures with my camera. 544 pictures later my batteries finally gave up the ghost!

Mixed bag, unfortunately most (photo's) were pretty dire but not all bad as it was free to spectate and a lad in a C20LET Corsa was doing stering work embarrassing flash cars, as was the lad in a 205GTi until he suffered some sort of mechanical FAIL and he got towed off.

Trigger popped over to see me in THE Cortina for a pair of air-horns he wishes to fit soon.

The Cort is simply awesome and I was privileged to be allowed to drive it! Was 70's-tastic and left me with a big grin on my face all day :D

As its the big bin week this week, neighbours have been chucking out loads of old household items like chairs and whatever. This has brought out at least 6 scrap vans looking for scrap, most of them have been doing the rounds all day, there are still some cruising up and down the roads looking for stuff to take.

My grump is this - Whilst the scrap trucks have looking through people unwanted items for metal a few cars have also stopped, including a SERIOUSLY shitey Blue Opel Manta, this car was seriously hanging, it had a 'YOB ??? ?' plate. I was just about to run out and ask the fella for a pic of his car when he got what he wanted and drove off.

I've GOT to find this car. I bet I wont.

Looked exactly like this, except in a much crappier condition:

SOD IT.

Well, today I found it, well, actually I saw it a couple of days ago but popped around that area to see if the car was still there, and low and behold it was:

Its actually a Cavalier Sports Hatch, its been a local most or all its life having been sold in the Birmingham area new. I got speaking to the owner and he intends on doing it up, the car is run everyday and moved about. Hopefully it'll be on the road soon!

Last weekend I also spotted a MINT Blue Austin Morris Princess, I sort of saw it from a distance and first thought it was a Marina, I knew it was something from BL and it turned out to be a Princess, sadly I couldnt catch a good pic as it was heading towards the M6, I did manage to get at least one pic, I'll include it in a batch of spots if I ever get around to it.

Got an email from one of the american family.... and to cut a long story short, I had a great-great uncle who fought in WWI flying a plane for the US army and his plane (which I never knew still existed) has just been restored and is in the national air and space museum

The BX has been running very badly since it went in for welding. I think that's my fault for experimenting with splashing in a bit of unleaded to try and clear out the injectors. In theory, they can handle it fine. Timing was the issue I think and with it sitting and not moving for a couple of weeks, I think the unleaded separated out! Starting has been hellish and she's been misfiring and generally down on power. I need to collect some doors and seats for the BX on Tuesday, and I was originally planning to go in the BX. That was put on hold due to the running issues but then I thought I could go in the Maverick. That's on hold because the rear brakes don't work... (though I do now own an Easi-bleed, so I'll see if there's an air-lock somewhere - I'm not sure the load valve is to blame after all).

But, it looks like I'll be able to risk a trip in the BX after all. That makes sense, as it is at least covered for breakdowns! It still feels a bit flat, so I still suspect an air leak somewhere, but it's pulling well enough now and can actually accelerate in top gear again! A spell behind the wheel has reminded me why I love it. Superb ride, great handling and massively economical and spacious.

That Cavalier is splendid. Top marks to the chap for driving around in it.

First attempt seems to have failed... here you go:

It seems like it was from his squadron (...I've just been on the website) and from an interview that someone typed up (that my garnadma has) it sounded like he flew it but it wasn't his plane... sadly. However, he was the bloke who ordered it to be saved and is one of four survivors!

Bit of a touch with these, especially as they were on a private listing which I realised too late and couldn't retract my bid. One tyre alone should see me £25-£30 and the wheels will weigh in nicely at some point.

This made me chuckle, it's a article by Ian Fraser, the editor of CAR magazine from 1979, funny how somethings never change.

Mate got free tickets to go and see Big Country next week. Made me dig out my old Restless Natives video and watch it again. Loads of tat in it and a great soundtrack. Mk2 Escort panda cars, Japs in Suzuki SJ's and the star of the film, the Little Suzuki GP. :)

Hope Big Country sound as good as they did back in the day but I think not- won't be the same without Stuart Adamson. :(

Had to meet a bloke yesterday and lead him to my house (easier than trying to describe the trip). Our journey involved a right turn from a tiny side road onto a fairly major road; and I was in the Granada. When we arrived he said he could hear me pulling out... he was driving a Mitsubishi L200! Granada out-shouts diesel, WIN. :D

RIP Stuart Adamson, superb musician.

Restless Natives: I doubt there has ever been a more utterly fantastically nonsensical bollocks-laden load of entertaining pish!

"I thought you said you'd had this thing tuned!"

"Do you have any false tits?"

I'd tell you but I'd have to hammer a smaller socket over you!

We need to hammer a smaller question over that, in orded to get the correct size answer.
