I'd put a haha for that if I didn't feel a bit sorry for her.

I've just found some buff and green log books in an envelope, also old MOT certificates. I've still got one of the numberplates of one of them. Is that enough to get the reg tranfered to one of our cars?

Only if you also happen to find all the missing bits that fit between the number plates, bolt it back together and get an MOT for it.

if its *just* a RF60/VE60 logbook you have for the vehicle, and as such the vehicle is not computerised with the DVLA then not a chance, for vehicles that legitimately still exist but have just been off the road for a very long time, there is the V765 scheme, but they are explicitly re-issued on a non-transferable basis, to stop, well exactly this sort of shenanigans,

people claiming numbers for vehicles that did not really exist, or really did not exist at all, was pretty endemic in the 1980's hence why the RF60/VE60 to V5 scheme was closed towards the end of 1983, and for many years afterwards it became *very* hard to reunite non-computerised vehicle with its original registration mark, it was only after much lobbing by historic vehicle people that the V765 scheme was introduced in the 1990's and they also ended the practice of giving an A suffix plate to everything that was computerised but being robbed of its plate

Week off work this week.  First full week off since May.

Weather is drizzly and overcast today. This time last year it was sunny and fairly warm. I always try and book the 2nd week of September when I can because birthday. :)

I reckon the guy with the silver one in the pic has absolutely the right idea. I mean it can't really go wrong if you lop off everything from the B-pillar forward, can it? Surely he's not mental enough to have done that to a hydropneumatic one and retained the hydraulics bit. Right? Right...?

The owner of the car came up on my fb yesterday as is the "we don't spy on you, honestly" way and it seems yes, it's fully hydro and she plans to upgrade it to automatically sync with the car

I mean once you get to that level, is there anything left to be scared of? 😂

Wow, just wow.

I bet she buys every single car on the LCBL thread too!

I momentarily questioned myself there before remembering that I am a cunt.

Also worth noting that the DVLA have clamped down even more. Now you MUST have something that links the registration number and the VIN. If you don't have either a buff or green logbook then you have to cross everything and hope the old registration records held by many local authorities not only survive but have enough info. Most don't even record what the vehicle is. For one to record the VIN is incredibly rare.

Had a bat flying around my garden earlier.  Identified it as a Pippistrelle of some description and using a free 'bat detector' app on my phone it's picked up 55KHz, which is apparently a Soprano Pippstrelle.

Since we moved into our new build six years ago we have been making efforts to attract wildlife to our garden.  This year has been great, with regular hedgehog sightings, a number of different bird species and now bats.  Absolutely delighted.

Grandparents had a decent shunt in their picasso a few months back, which badly damaged the rear corner of the bumper and smashed the rear light as well as creasing the rear quarter panel

Obviously involving insurance would lead to it being written off instantly

so after putting it off for a while these past few days I’ve been collecting the bits to fix it

got a new pair of rear lights, new bumper trim and then just spent a good hour cleaning and tidying it all up to make it look as good as possible after fitting the new parts today

grandmother messaged me this tonight

it was nice

I’m not quite finished yet either, once I find the spray paint I’m going to repaint that corner

nothing I can really do about the rear quarter, I might try tapping it back into place but the paint has cracked and it’s started rusting

bit I’m pleased with the results so far, it looks tons better

I'm doing an online induction for a site I'll be visiting next week, check out what's in the car park in the video. The red car's got to be a C6

Watching something on ITV , ad break announced “Sponsored by Alpha Romeo”

Thing is, the car shown was a Tonale. Now I’m sure it’s pronounce Toe-nar-lay in Italian but equally could be Toenail in English.

It's my birthday today.

Bit of motoring trivia: (I believe) in the month I was born Ford started offering the Cortina mark IV with a 2.3 litre V6 engine option.

I have been told I'm overpaid because I mentioned "television industry" and "bottle of champagne" in the same sentence.

Apparently a £30 bottle of fizz is far too extravagant!

Had an eBay purchase turn up today safely wrapped in a couple of sheets of Classic Car Weekly.

I think it would be a good idea to remove the scam/dodgy link, just so no one accidentally clicks on it, or does not quite realise what it is :)

Yeah ok, it's been edited so it won't work.

Which App do you have? I have a couple of bats around in the evenings catching flies at dusk.

It was just one called 'Bat Detector' in the Apple App Store.  I've no idea how accurate it is and it would need a specialised microphone to be properly reliable.
