No cars have driven past for a long time and there is total silence here. And some evenings I can hear an owl in the distance in the forest.

This is so nice and I will never understand how some of you voluntarily live in cities.

I am the same here in Spain. However, the owls here are in the tree opposite.  I am in a wooded area. There use to be an owls nest in the near by church. Sadly a few years ago renovations meant the hole was blocked up.

I lived in cities until my mid 30's, when we moved to a rural village location, in Norfolk.

I'll never go back to a city.

Granted my village is not as quiet as it used to be, and the bigger road near my house ( there are two, but one is a very minor one) is busier at night than it was, but we still get long spells with no traffic.

My mum still lives in st Albans. Every time I go back I think ' where the hell did all these houses come from?' and it's crazy busy now

A company like Netflix will almost certainly be outsourcing their customer service to a country where English won't be the staff's first language.

We have a pack of Jackals that do a few laps of the village scavenging most nights.

They start making quite the racket as they go, which in turn sets off most of the dogs in homes.

Ours have sort of gotten used to them,no barking but very alert.

Not grin exactly but interesting.

Actually rather sad as this beautiful, smart and vibrant woman has been bedbound for the best part of two years, a result of Covid infection.

As a physicist and generally intelligent person I'm sure she had the appropriate injections, but still caught it and is now unable to do anything for herself.

Liked for the science though yes that's sad.

Driving through the Black Forest and got a flash and a wave from a German registered 75 saloon going the other way.  Only other 75 I've seen since leaving Blighty.

Was it dark blue? On all my European trips, which are usually further east admittedly, I always see one 75 and it's always dark blue. And no, it's not always the same one.
