What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

After days of faffing about with Jag and a voltmeter that says it has bugger all electrickery left in it ( though it always starts easily enough) I was pleased to read 12.20 volts on a well rested battery that had done some recent work. So I am going to assume (oh dear...) that I do have an electrical system and a set of clocks that lie like an MP.

Reb pointed out to me on Facebook, that I appear to have inadvertently made the Rover 416GTi Bomb Disposal Edition.

Also, apparently there was some sort of James May programme on recently involving a Renault 4, and my parents have watched it, my dad because cars, and my mum because intrigue about R4s. My mum has craftily used it to plant the seeds of me buying one...

It's a bit sad really, but after last week's hospital shenanigans i am sitting here hardly able to get out of my chair, my blood count has gone up to 86 from 69, it apparently should be 130...

Anyway I am bored and useless, the local BBC station have a theme at lunchtime, they choose a subject and will play requests related to it.

Today's theme was cars, so I went in a request for Elvis Presley Cortina Trap...

I got it played and made the DJ laugh, a career in local radio awaits.

Oh and lads £230 Polo passed MoT today, needed a £50 Steering sensor.

Failure yesterday on suspension bush! removed wishbone last night, looks newish as does the strut and disc!! loads of money thrown at this by previous owner.

Pattern wishbone part was a shonky fit into housing, adjusted housing using gentle persuasion and torqued up again. zero cost

Some of you may recall the tatty and slightly broken Mercury Sable I bought from our Eddy on here a couple of years ago. Repaired it and then decided it would be a great idea to turn it into a replica NYPD cop car and move it on. It would likely live longer and be more desirable etc etc...

Did that and sold it on down Sarf after a couple of successful car shows and bookings.post-5532-0-25170700-1537967380_thumb.png

Recently Mrs Beard got a text message from one of her friends stating "The Police car that Bob did up is in a car show in Lytham"!

We were away, so excitedly I asked her to take a picture or two and forward them. Couldn't believe the car was still around, and back up north two years later. She had seen, and been in the car so must recognise it.....

Wrong.

How she ever thought......

Oh never mind. Made me laugh.

Comments on taste optional. :-)

Further to my post in the new news thread on the modern forum, I'd just about come to terms with spending the day at a yarn festival that my step mum and step sister want to go to, but poor health means they'll struggle to drive, so I've stepped in...

Turns out dad was planning on kicking them out of the car at the venue before it came to a stop then going to find trains for the day! Settle and Carlisle is close apparently.

Then if we get back early enough he wants to go to speedway, which sounds good to me.

I've just got to drive a 2017 1.8 Zafira C 300 miles... If dad's too tired to drive to Harlow from Peterborough I'll shove him in the gooner and get up the road!

Is this failed experiment #94 "is tea a good lubricant or does it help with the strange feeling"?

it's probably a clue to where he currently is in the world, what countries produce tea, wheat & petroleum jelly?

Then mention it says Sterling on it & that's a place in jockaneseashire so it's more legal than English money....

I do not normally pay any attention to this kind of article. the info is largely out of date and irrelevant.

BUT

This reads like a who's who of Autoshite

fabulous

There is some wonderfully scathing writing there though the thing that amused me most was unwritten.  Think of a car that usually makes these lists and spot it hidden away behind a Lamborgini that is apparently crapper.
