It’s vulgar and obscene to talk about money, but my missus has never really had a lot, far from it in fact.

She inherited some after the sad loss of a very very close relative, and after having been entirely snubbed by the biscuit arsed bastards in a posh London shop, she went to another just up the road and spent a truly eye watering amount on a handbag and a couple of other bits. Chuffed to bits for the girl, no one deserves it more.

Sarah Millican did a good one about this when in a posh shop she was buying something and commented how nice the wrapping was as the assistant wrapped up her item. The assistant then went on to say in a snooty voice how some people come in and buy cheap things just for the wrapping.

She came back with “well who’s doing the wrapping and who’s doing the buying?”

Haven't really done a thing to my car since before shitefest bar diesel and screenwash, so thought I'd give it a vacuum out (well, trying to), and have the steering wheel cowling off to investigate the non working horn. Must give it an oil change soon too, then a new windscreen then it's into winter shitter mode until the mot!

This is Dublin. He still thinks no harm can come to him there....

Except maybe:

Today was quite satisfying.

Took the C5 up to chrisvjm and he made me a very nice breakfast (really appreciate that) and then took me in his C6 to The Revs to collect the E36 wagon. The Rev is a very nice chap indeed, and he undersold the car in my opinion.

Drove it back and loved it. Superb on motorways but fun on twisty bits too. I think I like it.

Get back home and the Oldsmobile buyer (from Facebook this time) is waiting with his Transit to take it away. He chats old cars with me for a little while and loves the R11.

He tells me he is banger racing the Oldsmobile. Good.

today I went to Liverpool , the main shopping street was busy and buzzing ...

music from bands and solo singers , balloon modellers ,  people dressed up as Transformer robots ,

I even did a good deed by showing a group of Spanish tourists the way  to Matthew street and the bus station .....

we even sat on a bench to eat sausage rolls and pasties .......

Went to buy a minor traveller for Mrs 95. She came with me.. saw the mad prices of them.

"Can we have that P4 that no one is interested in, it's a 5th of the price ?

Of course you can.

Brodders's and myself buying shite at ACA auctionsattachicon.gifaa725b23-baf7-4791-9213-c5dee9691a90.jpg

Noice!  I would have had a punt on the "other" P4 (the roughasabadgersarse matt black one) if I'd got myself into the hall a bit sooner.  Your one did sound very sweet when they started it up though - assume it has a decent turn of speed being a 110?

The one we got is not too bad at all. I hadn't looked at it or even considered one before it came through. But the mad Morris traveller prices put mrs 95 off.

After I'd paid I nipped out the back got the keys and drove it home not to far at 55 miles but lovey drive at 50-55mph

I have a P4 105 for spares if you need anything and a fair knowledge of the cars if you run into trouble. The 110 has steel doors as opposed to the ally doors of all other P4 models, but they can be swapped.

^^

Much appreciated.

I'll have a decent look at it tomorrow as weather looks pants.

1 thing I know it definitely needs is the drivers door chrome strip that goes between main window and quaterlight

That P4 is magic, how much was it, if you don't mind me asking?

FiL Skoda Fabia failed MoT on thursday.

Told him to leave it with me and I will get it retested on Tuesday.

Steering gaiter £25 but what a faff to fit. in end #1 son was on the track arm end and I worked blind with a small flat blade through the engine bay to get the inner end fitted.

Ok that might have been a grump

Rear brake binding I am thinking dry slide pillars and a call to BIGGRED but the car is used so little that the pads had rusted into the carrier. knocked em out, wire brushed clean, dob of copper grease and all is well again in brake world.

All I need to do now is go over the headlamps with 3000 wet and dry and some autoglym

Give me a shout if you need anything I have a reasonably complete one in the yard. It is destined for the oval at some stage. It was traded in on the original scrappage scheme at a Hyundai garage. A fucking Hyundai garage.

At the ACA auction yesterday they were handing out free copies of CCW.  On p.6 there's an article about Bo11's Mazda 929, complete with a photo taken on what looks like SL's driveway.  Autoshite really does get everywhere doesn't it...
