I'm with you on that.  Bristol is the only place outside of London where I'm guaranteed to get lost every time I drive there.

On the flip side, if you are able to learn the city, you can get about and avoid the traffic most of the time.

Bought some Stanley long nose mole grips a while back, disgruntled over their puny size I'd written them off in a way. Got to say Halfords lifetime guarantee is ace, I twisted a T55 socket undoing some stupid tight headbolts with a scaff bar and have generally abused my 3/8 ratchet and they swapped both tonight without a seconds hesitation with no receipt nonsense

I love these old photos. The small saloon heading towards the camera behind the Aussie Cortina GT lookalike has me stumped. Bit like a Simca 1000 or NSU Prinz but don't think it's either.

Looks fairly like a Simca 1000 - but agreed, the indicators and overriders don't quite seem to match pics of any 1000 I can find.

 

 

 

Possibly a NZ assembled version with some slight variations, to allow for local content?

Apparently it is a Simca 1000, probably built around 1962.

Thing is it's a motability car so a lot of stress is lifted off my shoulders worrying about repairs, insurance costs etc.

You won't see me carping about you going for a Motability car Bub, that's exactly what we intend to do when the Blob reaches the end.  Top contender at the moment is Mazda CX3, because we need to be able to carry a wheelchair, and we need an auto box with "enough" petrol engine.

From what I've seen it's not so much the size of the engine but the power output these days. The 1.4 in mine is 150 bhp which is same as the 2.0tdi

Made it to France and back to retrieve Parkette who was suffering on a school trip. Came home to find she had a £25 win on the premium bonds and Mrs P got a couple of hundred refund cheque from the inland revenue!

 

Have started new co tract and immediately another old colleague wants a chat about doing some stuff for him too so I might be fully engaged in the next week or so.

 

And finally I saw this in a front garden in Upminster nearby - looks like a 1.3s that failed its last MOT in March 2010. Tempted to pop a note through the door!
