What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

2 and half months on from the incident that finished the Volvo, I finally have a claim reference number.

Even if I do get a pay out, I have no idea what I will do out of the other side.

Spoke too soon, current indications seem to show I'm about to be rolled over and fucked (again).

How? Is this one of those situations where it would have been cheaper just to bin the car and not say anything?

Their insurer states that they are claiming their builder left their gate open for the dog to escape, hence not the home owner's fault and if that is found in their opinion to be true, I can go and whistle Dixie for my claim.

If it'd have been the Laguna, it'd have been binned and forgotten by now, as it's the Volvo, I don't have the money to replace it and move on.

I'm also now into the Audi for just shy of £500 just keeping myself mobile. Farts.

That sucks. When it all happened I did feel a bit bad as if you hadn't sold the gooner you'd be mobile still!

Hardcore opinions about my spare time. There's no need to project, now. :)

I'm amazed you have any spare time Jon with all that wanking, hats off to you!

Could you then possibly claim on the builders public liability insurance if that is the case?

I call bollocks to their insurer. It’s up to the other party to claim against the builder, not you. I’d be looking up the number for the insurance ombudsman if I were you.

Is it their home insurance or their pet insurance stating this?

I ask only because a colleague is in a similar situation, but from the other side - her fence blew down in high winds the other week; dog got out; dog got hit by a car; damage to car is apparently to be paid out from her pet insurance which contains a public liability component.

That does smack of B.S. to be honest - otherwise anyone could dodge responsibility by claiming random persons unknown opened the gate etc, therefore NOT MY FAULT PAL, SOZ.

I was trying to explain Autoshite to a friend earlier while we drove along. A bright yellow Nissan Stanza came the other way at just the right point in the conversation to point and say 'like that'.

The pet insurance claims the home contents insurance trumps their cover, the home contents are now checking the small print of the pet insurance, but because their insured claim that the builder left the gate open, there is a school of thought that would land it on the builder's insurance, and I might like to involve my insurance company so as to get my car repaired quicker.

Just spotted in a YouTube comments area:

I wondered if it might be heading to Brightwells auction house but it isn't showing on their website.  I would quite happily buy a Stanza but it would have to a lot nearer to your new house than your old one.

Been working on this for the last 2 months, with a big gap in the middle when the metalwork went off to a Kirby licker for polishing...

Why can't flipping cars be this easy to work on? Maybe a 1933ish car is, I dunno! After video to be filmed this week then it can go back oop north to its owner

Insurance companies lie.

Bypass all that crap and go to small claims court

The homeowner is liable, full stop. It’s the homeowner that’s dicking you about, the insurance companies will sort it out amongst themselves afterwards. Go legal. Go to the CAB, then the small claims court.

A strange day today.

It took me an hour and a half to get out of the yard this morning, first my vehicle was unserviceable, then it's replacement wouldn't start, then after that nobody could unlock the lorry that was parked across the back of mine blocking me in.

On Mondays my job is to drive to all the inaccessible places in a mini bin lorry and pick up garden waste, the rounds are about 120 miles long and cover all sorts of roads right down to dirt tracks.

My replacement vehicle was a full sized bin lorry...

A decision was made to do what was possible, so I spent the whole day putting a quart in a pint pot.

I was enjoying myself so much I did an hour an a half of overtime and didn't even realise until after I had got home.

But the biggest grin of the day was when I got home.

My Nephew came round on his new to him VFR400 like I used to have and he and his father have decided that I should buy his bike and the price is very good, family rates

So I will shortly be back on the road on a Yamaha SRX 600.

And I had chips for tea.

I think that might be one of my favourite grins for a while. And I don't even like bikes. I do like lorries and chips though.

^ This.

The dog's owner is ultimately liable for their pet's actions.

Nice!

They're not particularly fast, but they have a certain charm.

Entered a Facebook competition a week or so ago and forgot all about it.

Got a message yesterday to say I'd won 2 tickets to Race Retro at Stoneleigh next weekend. Get in!

Was going to put this in the grump thread, but for some reason it made me laugh, and I think I've spouted enough bollocks in the grump thread this week...

The company I work for are "re-alligning" their manufacturing, meaning that the custom-built systems we make will now be manufactured in Italy. But they want to keep the project management, Engineering, Sales and Support staff here in the UK. The decision has also been made to leave the supply chain alone for the moment, so we will be sourcing everything in the UK (most stuff within 30 miles of my location) shipping it all to Italy for assembly, and then shipping it back to the UK direct to customer site.

What is supposed to make use of some spare resources in Italy. What it is actually going to do is make a complete and utter mess of the entire process, cost more, mean more people are sat about doing nothing, and make the Engineering process ten times harder, as the kit isn't easily to hand.

For some reason this announcement made me grin, and then laugh. I suspect it was sarcastically, as there's no way any of this is even remotely funny.

I think it's probably time for a new job. Actually, I think it's probably been time for a new job for a while and this just makes it now *definitely* time for a new job. Which hopefully is a positive thing, and I'm going to do my damndest to make it a positive thing...

I took a day off work today. Hardly slept and my stomach has been not playing ball. Wasn't sure if I was coming down with something but now I'm pretty certain it's stress related. Too much going on in my personal life right now and work has a few hard deadlines. Pretty sure yesterday pushed it over for me.

This morning I was pacing around the house, feeling really uncomfortable and uneasy. After a bit of Dr Google I realised it's probably a flood of adrenaline and a fight/flight reaction.

Anyway after I realised this I went for a walk locally around my favourite spot to burn it off. Bristol takes a lot of flack but I do like the place. This is only a 5 minute or so walk from my house. You can't do this is many towns or cities.

I love little hidden alleyways. Especially ones that are easily missed when driving.
