What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

There was a bloke riding (driving?) a Sinclair C5 down the fuppin high street in Clay Cross last night. It was pitch black, I'm surprised he could fit his plums in the thing. First time I've ever seen one in the wild.

I was on my way out for a curry. (Chefs special Lamb Kukhura Masala with a garlic nan, thanks.)

I think I have found an exhaust manifold for my 202 in France and a seller that will actually talk to me !!

Took the kids out to walk the dog wrapped up warm in wellies, was lovely to spend sometime alone with them together.

Dog now shattered, kids tired, bacon and egg sandwiches made and eaten.

Homework done too!

I went on the Cavcraft works do last night (I try and have about 40+ of these a year) and got absolutely wankered. Got KB'd from my new favourite pub (£2.50 for a double vodka and coke), but they let us in a bit later. Despite town being full of the usual amateur drinking Chrimbo party muthaflippaz and having to walk home, it was fucking brilliant and we won a few quid on the bandits which made it even better.

Well, I've got the bulk of my Christmas decs up today, and found the ones I use in my work van so they can go up tomorrow.  By bedtime tomorrow I'll be all decked-up, all the prezzies are bought and wrapped, Park Hamper has been delivered, cards delivered/posted as appropriate, Boxing Day pub lunch is booked... all we've got left to do is some Asda shopping and maybe some fresh goods from the bakery, and that's it. :)

Small victories... the DN had a patch of scratches at the bottom of the windscreen where it looked like someone had removed a sticker using a Brillo pad. Half an hour with some Farecla, a bottle of cheap looky-likey T-Cut and some elbow grease and it's like new again :)

PPI payment has been made. Hoorah! The luxury of spending Christmas not fretting about money, for the first time in about eight years.

Small things........ Couldn't find the lemon and ginger tea I use in the office. S owas going to be a grump - but the local - frenchie supermarket lot have only stocked up on PG TIPS!!!!!!! No more channel crossing when I've run out and desperately need a proper cuppa! Huzzah!

(Obviously this does not preclude me finding the estate of dreams and loading it to the hilt on the collection run - as they still don't stock ginger cake!)

Good stuff. I fired off 2 emails, one to Virgin, one to TSB a couple of months back and TSB coughed £1500, Virgin said they didn't owe me anything or if they did they'd already paid me back. Time to set the wolves on them....

What do you need to know to pursue PPI claims? I know I paid some PPI years and years ago when I got my first credit card, but it was tiny amounts and not for long as far as I can recall. Naturally I have no idea what the account was but it was with my usual bank.

Is there any point in faffing with it?

Yes. Contact your bank and they should be able to find the details.

Most banks will do this readily, but if they aren't helpful, write in and use the magic words Subject Access Request - they are legally obliged under the Data Protection Act to supply all the information they hold on you, although they are entitled to charge up to £10 for this.

Any refund of PPI due to you will have interest added at 8% per year, so even quite small amounts from a few years ago can accumulate to a decent sum.

Once I'd contacted the TSB (Lloyds at the time it was taken out) they did all the running, with letters, Emails, texts at odd times and arranged phone calls. It did get a bit personal about wills and my mother's death but they were friendly and professional. I went through the Martin Lewis website which provided an Email template and guidance but charged no commission. An excellent result from one email, but since Virgin don't appear to have even bothered to check I'll probably get the experts onto them.

I also paid PPI on a credit card many years ago, but got nowhere with the claim. IIRC is was an EGG credit card but no results. Have half heartedly pursued the claim through a couple of the usual suspects but given up. Feels a bit like the whiplash claims. Just claiming for the sake of free money.

Not my style really. Can't say I am bothered TBH.

It wouldn't be much anyway.

I thought about claiming points, as mentioned in my posts on the other part of the forum, but I only actually paid a few months of my Barclay's as I was a dickhead, and that's been written off now, so I probably won't.

I get a feeling there are 'rabbit/headlight' elements to the :-

'What was the name again?'

'Cheque in the post!' :)

I understand the govt/enforcer financial services are pushing the banks so hard over this that any meaningful numbers of 'customers', writing to their MP complaining, would get the banks Drop Kicked in the goolies...

They pay to play...

Njgleeds popped round last night.

He helped convince missus Moog that a small fun car and a bigger sensible car is the way forward.

So that means post Christmas I will be on hunt for cheap estate and luckily have a smoll fun car lined up

It isn't my style to claim for nowt - ie personal injury after a mild car crash. But, it IS my style to claim for money that should never have been taken from me. Halifax have been exceedingly helpful and even reminded me of loads I'd forgotten. I applied for my credit card with them too, but they said I didn't have PPI on that, which sounds about right.

All the PPI talk reminds me, I've got a claim halfway through with First Direct. I really must contact them & chase it up as they are pretending my signature has changed.

Sod off all of you ... :-)

Now you have to buy ALL of the above so you don't offend anyone here.
