Thats quick, id easily spend 4x as long doing the full works on a car, cotton buds in between the gaps in the interior plastic trims, hoovering every last bit of debris out the carpet, etc. which is why I was hopeless as a car valeter for a big dealer group, too OCD.

I could have had a few more hours on it to be fair. Its a start, next time i do it will get it a bit cleaner again.

My offer has been accepted on the house I'm after :)

Need to get my ex to sign me off the mortgage now and I can have my life back in a month!

Surprised they won with DWF acting on their behalf. From my dealings with them I'm amazed they managed to turn up at the right court on the right day...

Do you guys remember what the Autoshite Holy Grail is?

That's right! Oh, no, not the Sierra bASe.

Nope, I don't mean a RHD Seat Malaga.

A Vel Satis with the 350Z engine and no electrical faults you say? Not quite.

A Pakyan Hunter? Not that one.

Nope, it's not a launch edition Rover 75 with a Perkins Prima and some godawful colour interior.

And it's not a fuggin' Horsey Horseless.

Right. OK it seems we have a lot of Holy Grails here... but I reckon this should be quite a way up the list....

Spotted today. I clocked it a while back but it disappeared for ages.... The great news is I've just checked it and it's got 364 days of MOT left so someone's looking after it!

Not a Lonsdale YD41 / YD45??

I R DISAPOINT.

What do you think of the fabia?

It's a bit dull, but it got us here ok and could have been worse. I'd rather have taken the Vectra, but didn't get the MOT sorted in time.

On close inspection it looked like a case of faux patina to be honest. Although I do actually like that 'look'.

Huggy's is genuine, and therefore a million times better :)

The Saab.

Mrs Beard had a work appointment in Essex yesterday. We live 260 miles away. Filled up with petrol (at 5 in the morning.. Boo.) Off we went.

Despite traffic jams on the A14/M11 roadworks shizzle we did the entire return trip on one tank of pez with a fair bit left over.

38.9 average mpg, and all that on a 2.3 petrol turbo with 145K on the clock.

Cheers Saab, and thanks to Barry Cade of this place from whom I got it.

My old 9-5 aero could produce some good mpg figures on a run, also they are absolutely brilliant tourers

Unlike the old 9000s, I remember going in my old bosses down to London and it never made it past 20mpg. Shame that Saab are no longer with us, they made some brilliant cars.

Been at Pendine Sands for the VHRA sprints today as a couple of friends of my dad's were racing. Some nice hot rods and an interesting spectators car park!

I get 39-40mpg on a run from mine too. Can't argue for a 2.3t auto with 216k on.

Yup my 9-5 would touch 40mpg on a run , even when remapped to 235bhp instead of 170.

Amazing for the size and weight of them .

Now I have a Landy that does 12-15 mpg ????

Not sure what engine my old bosses was, I just remember sitting at 70mph on the M40 and it reading 18-19mpg all the way. But it was a great car for a long drive. I had an Orion at the time and the difference was like night and day. The build quality was just in another world to my Ford.

My friend had a chipped 2.3 turbo 9000 that got better mpg with him thrashing it than the best I ever achieved in my diesel 940.

I suspect the thirsty 9000 was one of the lower power engines.

Not sure what it was, fuelly seems to have then as not the best though:

But such a nice place to be I could easily live with the mpg as long as I wasn't doing galactic miles.
