It's quite difficult to go over the handlebars of a bike, both these muppets managed it

A colleague dropped a van off at a Royal mail workshop the other day and noticed they had left their tool box unattended.

Also while he was there he found the rarest of Post office vehicles, three undented vans.

These vans have had a ''hillbilly tune up'' ie a body lift by spacing out the subframes and the body to try and stop them grounding out on farm tracks.

Although the body is higher up from the road the engine, transmission and exhaust front pipe isn't. :)

Our post has one of those, He told me they send the new vans to france for conversion , presumably at "dangle" or similar, I call bollocks on that, but its what he said. He also stated they dont get the 4x4 conversion as they dont think its warranted.

After the gym yesterday i popped to Tesco and spotted the speed camera van parked on the carpark, i was going to take a silly photo mrs fp spotted the driver and told me dont do it, i laughed and knocked on the window to ask if the driver minded if i did it, she laughed and told me to go ahead, i suppose it was a change from them getting abuse

Heres me pretending to pee up it

Just got a letter through the door, which is usually a damn good cause for a panic but this was from a previous owner of the big green dollop. He was able to tell me where it was and what happened to it during its 'missing' years, it was in Spain with him having a jolly good time and it was serviced  by jolly nice Spanish chaps who may, or may not have actually done much to it. However, I have now learned that it has actually done about 15000 less miles than it records as while over there it had a 1.6 convertor on the speedo so it read in kmh. This is jolly good news!

I also checked out the Mazdas history and that was imported into this country in 2008 with 85000 kilometres on the clock and was then fitted with a convertor and has done another 24000 miles. SO, I 'think' that makes its total mileage about 75000.

I know this makes no difference to anything, but lower miles always makes me happy and knowing that Bentley was away on its holidays for a year or 6 instead of languishing in a bog in not so sunny Ireland (other not sunny places are also available) while peat botherers laughed at it and kicked clods of pressed turf in it's chromed face makes me grin... which is what the thread title says...right?

They are indeed modified by Dangel. 2wd with a mechanical LSD as well I believe.

Right, make yourself a cup of tea, this might go on a bit.

Driving home on Sunday evening in the gathering gloom I began to suspect, and as it got darker became certain, that my dip beam lights were out.

So I turned off the main road and completed my journey in the lanes where I could use main beams and only meet a couple of oncoming cars.

Next day I whipped a bulb out and tested it and it was fine. Fuses were OK too. So I posted on the XM forum to find out which relay to test and how to extract it.

Yesterday, armed with a new relay and some contact cleaner I fitted the relay and turned on the dips. Nothing. Went indoors for a cuppa and asked on XM forum what next. After receiving instructions on how to test the circuitry someone else asked if I had turned the ignition on.

It never occurred to me that if there is a warning alarm for leaving the lights on that dips would be switched off with the ignition.

Apparently that is just to remind you to turn the side lights off. I see no logic in this. :)

So an owner of one of these could brag about having a good dangel. Ooer!

The Golf does this too, it also beeps with just the sidelights on and I think even with the strange German parking lights that light up one side.

What makes me grin?

This place makes me grin, quite a lot actually.

Tonight I have sold an utterly horrible Mercedes to someone that will hopefully show it some much needed love and won a funny little Perodua which I have to drive a 450 mile round trip to collect and the missus suggested we road trip the collection rather than me train it on my own.

This place etc....

If one good thing can come out of events in London, its that Hot Fuzz was actually a reality show, not a film.....

EDIT - beaten to the punchline by Nyphur in the other thread, sorry.

Saw a bloke driving a federal spec TR7 in downtown Houston this morning, they sit really high.   He looked to be having fuelling issues as the car jerked away from the lights but I was still jealous.

Simple but still a lot of fun :D

For those too young to remember, it's Lotus 3: The Ultimate Challenge.

(In reality, the ultimate challenge would be driving 8 miles through the race stage flat out on the redline in an Esprit without overheating)

It probably has a clutch and is not driven often   :-)

Pah. WRC is already three rallies into the season, and four or five drivers are in contention. Redbull.tv is making a decent fist of covering it too, even if the website is entirely baffling. It's about as logical and easy to navigate as a tube map by Dali.

It's been a year since I got my own office at work, its amazing. I can listen to 1990s rave tapes over the internet at fair volume on a good pair of speakers while fixing electronics and they still pay me for it.

Today was https://www.mixcloud.com/Dizzyuk/dj-hype-w-mcs-navigator-psg-jungle-fever-edge-coventry-111293/

EDIT: I should add,  that grin encompasses the internet itself, the people who upload these tapes, the price of 2nd hand bookshelf speakers on ebay and the fact that they put my office at the opposite end of the building to anyone who'd care about hearing any noise.

Thinking about it, that's very likely.   He was wearing a tweed cap as well the throbber.

Blimey, that's one of the first games I remember playing way back when, I had no idea what the actual title was but I remember the car selection screen!

Given I was born in 1992 the game was probably a few years old before I get to the stage of remembering it!

I was forced to enter something to do with comic relief the other day at work, someone put a load of cakes next to the people running it, and I was captured as I went for a donut so did some radio 1 song thing for £2.

Turns out I won, and got £30! Result!

Sorry this one is not about cars, but it is about the sort of high quality non-mainstream bollocks that we migrate to.

On Youtube there is a channel called The Great War https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUcyEsEjhPEDf69RRVhRh4A which does a 100 years after the event once a week 10 min program about what the hell happened during that week of WW1.

I'm 3 years late to the party and am really enjoying catching up, a simple presentation style and history done well.
