Possible personal best: was offered this sack of shit oil painting (of Anglesey, I think he said) by an artist* called James Gibbs as a swap for my shitty Chinese scooter...

I neither like nor know anything about oil paintings, but I reckon I could safely say it's fucking rubbish and looks like it was knocked up by a rabbit that's been necking disco biscuits and washing them down with vodka.

^ Menai Straits.  I was born a few miles from that bridge.

The ebay tat thread has made me laugh, which considering my current state of misery/depression is an achievement. The "VW Beetle" trailer, closely followed by the Hans Fritzel spec "demountable camper", which has been roughly thrown in the direction of a Transit Pick-up made me snort my coffee out through my nose.

Would sir like a valuable* oil painting by an old master at a knock down price (£3,000) to remind him of those halcyon days?

Yes, it's an OPTL so there is a shaker plate at the top end of the pit.

I like pits. Much less faff than a 4 post ramp!

As I left the bar on Sunday afternoon I saw this little thing in a side street. Any ideas what it is?

James Gibbs was a famous 18th century artist. Unfortunately this isn't by him, as they didn't have a steam railway across the Menai straits in the 1700s.

My parents have a couple of paintings by a local artist - they came from the old wrexham war memorial hospital when it moved and were being thrown in a skip. Her name escapes me, but she was married to one of the consultants. She was taught by an artist who spoke very highly of her. His name was L. S. Lowry and they're of liverpool docks.

You never know cavcraft, you could be sitting on a goldmine!

I think cavcraft would face less of a risk sitting on his chinese scooter

I'd face less risk riding the bastard round the black course at Llandegla!

That's a late '60s Datsun Sports 2000. LHD so it's not a Fairlady.

Swap a scooter for a painting?

Glad you declined the offer - I guarantee the the prospective new owner would have looked like an extra from escape from New York.

My CT scan results have come through.

My lungs are fine ( thank fuck ).

I had mentally prepared myself for being told it was COPD or even the big C.

My sinuses are in such a state they have brought on asthma.

I found out that Garbage are still on the go. The band.

Their first album was 1995, and I just found an album by them that was released this year! Bloody hell. They've still got it too.

Didn't we talk about these a while ago on here? Quite popular in oz for assisting 4x4 recovery, not for working under unless you're Neil from the young ones.

Just had another dealing with one of our car insurers, who we pay the princely sum of about £10 a month to, to insure our 205 GTI 1.9 on TPFT, with windscreen and breakdown cover.

I mentioned that the car was going to be driven by my cousin and uncle and that it would be staying at a different address for that time - around 2 months. Where this would garner much sucking of teeth/threats to void the policy/dry bumming for fees (or all three) in the UK, all I had to confirm in this instance was that the drivers were over 25 and hadn't been naughty, plus provide its new temporary address. All for no extra cost!

What a splendid way to find out how bad your exhaust leak is...
