What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Some of the colours the Cactus comes in just don't work. At least the metallic burnt umber colour is a passable 70s tribute act!

It does look well thought out from a usability POV, but durability is debatable. Will there be any cheap ones to buy, which have some life left in them?

I thought your insurance seemed dear, but in the circumstances it's probably not too bad. Mine's just over £500, after heeding advice to go fully comp and pay cash to an agent. Not too bad, with 2 years NCD and a city centre address.

Not a grumpy more ironic, wanting a wood burning stove but living in a smokeless area so you get molested on price for ones that are ok to use yet the houses were built by the Coal Board....

I saw what look suspiciously like a talbot horizon from the bus in San Francisco . Wasn't quick enough with the camera hopefully it's still there today.

Is that bad? I only have 4 years ncb due to me never letting a policy run it's course when I was younger, so didn't start to accumulate NCB until a few years ago. Amy only has 3 due to her only beign a named driver on her ex's policy, and him being a twat so she was at 0 when I met her...

I think it's quote good, was £180 a month when we first started the multicar policy

Phoned up, moaned a bit and got the price reduced by £200, now paying £80 a month.

Anyone used Co-Op insurance? They quoted Amy £280 fully comp and me £265 fully comp, but the details of the policy were not forthcoming, had a £450 (!) excess and adding a curtosey car for Amy jacked the price right up!

Wil stay with Aviva for another year, will look around next year when I have 5 years NCB and Amy has 4

Or the holy grail, a Shelby GLHS.

Dodge Omni? Horizon extensively re-engineered for American tastes.

It looked like that but without the woody bits. It was defo cooking version not a sporty one. It looked pretty tidy.

Apparently mike brewer is here filming wheeler dealers maybe he's going to buy it and ship it back .

Not to up on insurance companies any more bit the Co-op were REALLY good a few years ago and were very ethical. Not the cheapest but one of the best if there's a problem.

The Co-Op Eco Insurance (in case it's different to normal Co-Operative Insurance) are on my shit list, I was with them 2013- 2014 they quoted me £270 ish on the Metro so I took it. A couple of months in I changed to the Panda, a car that had better brakes, less BHP, smaller engine and far less likely to be nicked and they ramped it up to nearly £500, fair enough it's newer and worth more, and you usually get charged a bit more when changing car but charging that much more is just taking the piss - especially when the chance of it being nicked or crashed is lower. (Who is going to nick a bog standard 1.2 anonymous 09 Panda against a hot hatch that's notoriously easy to steal and had huge decals on the side?) Annoyingly they were still offering a sub £300 quote on the comparison site if I was a new customer but they had me over a barrel as I'd have had to pay some sort of cancellation fee no doubt. Had to add business cover for the last 3 months too which was a ridiculous price, think I ended up paying nigh on £600 for what started out as a good quote, not paid that since I was 18. Their renewal was a joke too (I'd have paid more elsewhere on the principle anyway) so told them to get lost.

They're also just a trading name of Budget, who are as popular as a dose of the clap on the net.

Is the co-op not owned by the co-op anymore then? Bugger me ridged! If so, then I take it all back. I owned a 'book' back in the 80s and it was all pire Co-op then and they were bloody excellent.

I think the co-op's ethical credentials are playing second fiddle to their need to turn a profit these days. Aren't they amongst the lowest payers for milk from dairy farmers?

Popped over to drop off a card and pressie to my elderly neighbour this evening. He is 82 and sadly has Parkinsons and Parkinsons related dementia.

He was at his chattiest and most lucid for ages. Absolutely bloody marvellous to see.

Mrs M'coli likes a bit of Sean Connory, but she remarked it reminded her of this Still Game scene, 1 minute 12 seconds in...

Because I'm only aiming to get an MoT on the Princess I don't have as much work to do on it.  That means I can spend the rest of the year fettling the other jobs as I go along, after the Cowley event.  In theory.

My little 'furbaby' (feel free to be sick at the Americanism!) has been for three little walks today! Okay, she huffs and puffs a fair bit and it's slow old business, but she wanted to come with us (I give her the option of going home after a wee) and she seemed to enjoy them.

Makes up for the fact there are NO biscuits in the place so we all have to suffer.
