fairkens Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I think the co-op's ethical credentials are playing second fiddle to their need to turn a profit these days. Aren't they amongst the lowest payers for milk from dairy farmers? Craig the Princess 1
purplebargeken Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Popped over to drop off a card and pressie to my elderly neighbour this evening. He is 82 and sadly has Parkinsons and Parkinsons related dementia. He was at his chattiest and most lucid for ages. Absolutely bloody marvellous to see. vulgalour, Semi-C and sporty-shite 3

Aren't they amongst the lowest payers for milk from dairy farmers? According to this week's private eye they are, some 10p a litre below Tesco!!!(But can you beleive everything in private eye?)
M'coli Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Mrs M'coli likes a bit of Sean Connory, but she remarked it reminded her of this Still Game scene, 1 minute 12 seconds in... Luckythirteen 1
vulgalour Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Because I'm only aiming to get an MoT on the Princess I don't have as much work to do on it. That means I can spend the rest of the year fettling the other jobs as I go along, after the Cowley event. In theory.

Timewaster Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I wouldn't know. I haven't got HD eyesight. myglaren 1
xtriple Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 My little 'furbaby' (feel free to be sick at the Americanism!) has been for three little walks today! Okay, she huffs and puffs a fair bit and it's slow old business, but she wanted to come with us (I give her the option of going home after a wee) and she seemed to enjoy them. Makes up for the fact there are NO biscuits in the place so we all have to suffer.
HillmanImp Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I typed 'H Van' into Ebay and it came up with the list of suggestions underneath the search bar: Van. - Okay.HY Van - Yeah,I think that's the proper name isn't it?Citroen HY - SameCitroen H Van - And againJaguar XK8 -EH? dollywobbler Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Yesterday, our shower packed up. That's ok - it is probably over 30 years old. I opened it up for a look inside and three dead mice fell out... It was knackered though. So, we built our own using mainly scrap old stuff we had lying around. We did need to buy a tap and one elbow connector. Scored a multimeter for £7.49 at Screwfix at the same time. Nice. Our luxurious new shower. One tap controlling input from the hot tap. Our hideously complicated, non-normal heating system send hot water at mains pressure through the huge tank that stores our warms. A thermostatic control ensures that what comes out of the taps isn't scalding. I look forward to testing it soon (far too late at night for someone this hirsute to shower). Perhaps after a day being an extra in Hinterland. mrbenn 1

steve_earwig Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 T'wife's just informed me she's going to Zagreb Friday evening (urgh) to see opera (oh dear me no) with the school (bleurgh!) including kids (argh!) The good news is she didn't get me a ticket - yee-ha!! They're going to see Sevillski Brjiać, which translates as The Shaver From Seville. myglaren, DSdriver, DS20 and 2 others 5

vulgalour Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 You mean Rossini's Barber of Seville, I'm thinking.
dollywobbler Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Looks like something out of a cheap hostel in Asia. What did you use for the thermostatic control. The hot water supply from our thermal store is already thermostatically controlled, as the tank temperature can be as high as 80 degrees. We've turned it down a bit, so what we're getting is around 39/40 degrees (it was 45-50 degrees). I've just used it for the first time. It's incredible! The pressure is just ludicrous, so after a bit of fettling, I barely had the tap open for fear it might start removing skin as well as dirt. eddyramrod and myglaren 2
spike60 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Your hot water is stored at 80 degrees or so as that's out of the danger zone for bacterial growth.By turning it down your encouraging the growth of god knows all what.Legionnaires disease is the one they get excited about at work, or they did when it was found in water tank at the building Special Branch rent from us....
MrDuke Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Being as he's already managed to grow three mice from it, I suspect there's a healthy degree of immunity in the household. mat_the_cat, Luckythirteen and HH-R 3
Mr_Bo11ox Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I made a sort of low rent shepherds pie yesterday using a TIN of haggis instead of minced lamb, even to my ears that sounds bad but its bloody delicious!!!! I flippin love haggis. fairkens, privatewire, DSdriver and 3 others 6

You misunderstand. The tank ranges in temperature depending on how hot we make the fire. The hot water passes through a coil in this tank and as it exits, is mixed with cold to get a safe tap temperature. Out heating system could be Citroen badged. During the Maserati years. It's pretty complex, and mostly designed by Mrs DW. myglaren, Sloth in a bowl, MrDuke and 1 other 4

Inspector Morose Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Oh, so it's like a solar heating system but with a wood burner instead of solar heat exchangers?
