I always laugh when I see Pointless Celebrities on the TV listing - sums 99% of them up perfectly.

3/8 “celebrities” you’ve heard of, is about normal for Pointless celebrities. Similar percentage for most celeb editions of normal shows.

When the sun's out, it's a bank holiday, it would be rude not to get the roof down and go for a wee breakfast run.

Grim or grump... Out with the wife and kids down Newark riverside. They'd left me as I was faffing about with my film camera.

It's a slightly weird mix of expensive homes & restaurants interspersed with run down bits on one side and a boatyard on the other which gets increasingly rough

T' other side

I'd crossed this bridge

IMG_20250505_135639937.jpg.691adc8a09444588f3d44d9f3712816b.jpg

and was off the right trying to get arty shots of a weir and the footbridge. I'd just had a quick waz keeping my camera out of the splash zone and as I exit the bush a young bloke appears.

Feeling slightly embarrassed I mutters a "how do". "Not bad" replies he "I'm not dead".

I did a double take then thought well you might be dead soon. Slung across both shoulders and nearly touching the ground were 2 newly liberated public charging EV cables complete with charging plugs!

A group of blokes here have been collecting money for a hospital by selling a calendar and this is one of the pictures.

Helped a lad at work move house, and in one of his bags of stuff I left a note saying 'Welcome to your new home, you sweaty nonce bucket'.

He thinks one of his new neighbours wrote it.

fucking green flag

they have autorenew on their shit and left it too late last year to change it

you can change it to manual but with more than a weeks notice

but this year after getting a quote 17 more than last year which was not cheap due to not doing it too far in advance - they also tried to take the money last year and couldnt due to card expiring and it took them a week to write me a letter to tell me - serves them right - hence why i dont auto renew

have changed it and as normal went on money supermarket to check

its only just less than 60 for uk and euro - i was only poking around cos might have only bought uk this year

so thats 40 quid saved

all insurance are cunts :D

That's it for another year ......

After 6 weeks clattering about with no hall/stair carpet, finally got it laid today. Our original one we chose turned out to be discontinued so had to re-order another one, hence the delay.

Finished my job at just before 3 yesterday so nipped down to the yard at my other job and was delighted to find the workshop empty.

Got the long suffering Focus up on the ramp and finally got round to changing the turbo actuator valve thats been rattling around the car for weeks and the reverse sensor on the gearbox thats been driving me slowly insane by operating the parking sensors constantly.  Did the oil and filter too which was a PITA as always.

Was finished by 5 so could get it out the way before the place was locked up and its so much better.  Will probably have to drive to the Highlands soon so it really needed doing.  I had been waiting for an opportunity to do it with the apprentice at work so he could learn something but he didn't seem interested so I should have just taken an afternoon off ages ago.  Nevermind eh?  192k not out.

New phone (S25 Ultra) is very shiny and cool, particularly the camera.

The highest res photos are too big for the forum, so have a compressed screenshot:

and a zoomed in crop from the original:

and another shot from the same spot at maximum zoom for 200mp mode:

The AI features are mostly fairly crap from what I can tell, but that's not why I got it.

The same could be said about any camera phone after the Nokia 7650 of 2001.

Can it? How many phones of 15+ years ago spit out 50mb jpegs?

Resolution wise most cameraphone photos are physically too big to display sensibly, but how many are *that* overkill?

I'm mostly just confused that there doesn't seem to be a built in way to create a downscaled copy.

Very impressive!

I recently bought an A15 and its camera is so comically shit it might be the first phone I replace before it actually dies.

Samsung phone hardware ace. It's the Samsung UI makes me sad.

Hence I'm on Google Pixels and have been for years. Currently on a 8Pro
