Had a glass of Pimms with strawberries and oranges in it. First booze since the op. Very fuzzy after a single glass but then sober 15 mins later. It was a lovely drink.

More car treasure found in the V6 - Volume 1 CD of some rock anthem shite or other left in the stereo and a can of butane stuffed under the passenger's seat for some bizarre reason. This to go with the dog drinking bowl (empty) stuffed in the map holder on the back of the passenger seat.

Even found a half decent space saver and a full jack set in the boot, which must be a first.

I didn't realise there was a series one hundred and eleven Oxford.

They were trialling following the Landrover convention ;)

If I was as pedantic as Lacquer Peel I’d be pointing out that Land Rover is two words.

Ordered 20 x 3mtr lengths of decking from a local supplier the other day,

Today it was delivered and the driver's opening line was they've made a mistake with my order and the 3mtr lengths haven't been delivered from the supplier so would it accept 4.2mtr lengths instead?

Let me think about that for a nanosecond!

TOO FUCKING RIGHT!!

Having changed from a Skoda Octavia Scout to a BMW 325i M Sport, I was expecting to be royally fleeced by my insurance company.

Lo and behold, my monthly payment has increased by £7, £3 of which is the admin fee. A rare benefit of getting older

I have cleaned all the leather in LGD and it has come up a treat. Just waitng for the leather dye/polish I've ordered to arrive. So far, I have ordered: dye, paint, badges, brake switch, heater fan and not a single one has so far, turned up. Also, the grand total spent an all the above is: £90 including postage. Of it had been for the dollop (Big Green variety) it would have been £900 (at least) so not bad at all.

£3 a month admin fee? What??

Posted

I’d imagine that’s a single admin fee split over them remaining months @£3 per month and the premium increase split over the remaining months @£4 per month.

Brilliant service from DVLA.

Yes. Really!

And from Royal Mail.

I sent my licence back for the HGV renewal having had a doctor fill in the form and the opticians sign it off.

A few days later I got the form back in a scruffy envelope with a letter saying "you didn't sign it you cretin!" (Or words to that effect).

Feeling very stupid, I signed it, put it back in the envelope, stuck a stamp on and hot footed it to the post box.

When I arrived home, I looked at the letter to see if I should shred it or not. That's when I saw the line "please return this letter with your form"

ARRRRGH!

Oh well, too late now. Wait to see if I get it back again.

Next day I got a Royal Mail envelope, hand written through the post. In it was my licence. What is going on?

I rang the DVLA (fortunately I had still got the letter) and the guy I spoke to was very helpful, admitted they had issues with crappy envelopes and if I send my licence to him directly with a reference number it would all be sorted. So I did.

Less than a week later I got a brand new card licence in the post, all correct and renewed, no other entitlements lost or anything.

So, DVLA and Royal Mail despite their reputation for general red tape unhelpfulness have dealt with my idiocy swiftly and competently.

A++++++ would use again.

Accidentally* downloading the very first series of Top Gear when it relaunched.

First episode features Clarkson reviewing a Berlingo. And liking it.

No studio audience, no James May, double denim Clarkson, baby faced Hamster, black Stig.

Not far off coming back home for my summer hols. :)

I live in Minnesota, on a smallish island, in the middle of a 14,500 acre lake so guess where I’m dreaming about visiting...

Worthing!!! (West Sussex).

Can’t wait! So many things I want to do. Walk on the seafront, have a cream tea, enjoy the sea air and people that don’t talk funny, or think that I do.

Don’t even start me off on Fish and Chips... :D

I'm only along the road, and the recent Kent mini meet had a decent turnout. Feel free to start a thread for a meet!

Taking the little one to nursery this morning and a late Capri in the rear mirror getting ever closer.

Felt like I was being chased by CI5.

Swung into the pez station to get some baccy and sort my tyre pressures out after wheel swappage, and parked next to a Vel Satis. Which was nice, but when I got out the chap was in full blown business mode! Laptop out, on the phone and eating a sausage roll!

Made me smile that a Vel Satis is still being used for what it was originally intended for, business stuff!

I would like to retire there eventually, but know it’s a pipe dream.

What with Mrs Roobarb being of the American persuasion and Little Roobarb likely to stay in the US.

Still, it’s a nice pipe dream to have.

A place where I get sent for work in Tokyo, has this place about three miles from the hotel.

Bad photos taken from the bus to the airport.

The place is near Hachioji in Tokyo and next to this building is a field with perhaps 80 early minis waiting for resto / new owners.

Next time I’m there, I’ll take a walk out to it and snap some better pictures!

Maybe even with the camera the right way up...
