there is a mk2 escort on a two post ramp nextdoor. It's been there since 1999 and hasn't been started for 14 years.3 O'clock this afternoon I heard the ramp coming down so went for a nose.

The apprentice has put a battery charger on the escort and is turning the engine over by hand.Next he cranked it over and the distinctive sound of a starter bendix throwing out could be heard. He cranked it a few more times before checking for a spark at the king lead.20 minutes after first tinkering about with it and the old escort is running.

Made me smile that the car has been stuck on that ramp longer than the apprentice has been on the planet. He'll go far that lad.

I might actually be doing stuff this year!

Shitefest in June

My Dad's just spontaneously booked tickets to a band we like in Motherwell, flipping Glasgow in July

2 weeks off in August. I might have accidentally booked 2 weeks where Amy and the Kids are away for 1 week, what a shame*

Trip to wales in early March to a hoover collector and good friends house for beers and fun!

Best get the steering rods fixed on the gooner and keep the AA membership paid so I can enjoy them, although I think Dad is driving to scotland when we go, it's just shitefest it needs to not disgrace itself for! Best start saving some money each month too and not waste it on shit...

I'm sure it's that sure I got it from but didn't one high street retailer sell those plug covers that were so small you could stick a wire into both line and neutral with no protection at all?

Anyway my grin is Junior_the_Princess went for a haircut so we needed a video to distract him from crying. Pepper Pig? Pah. Any cartoon? Nope. This worked brilliantly

Followed by a trip to the bus station to watch them in the metal.

andrew campbell would be exactly the same (and you seen a recent pic right :D )

I was following a Mazda RX8 this morning and kept wondering when it'll be getting its Pinto fitted... :-D

I believe rebuilding the rx8 engines isn't that expensive or difficult. Nor is it that difficult (for a modern) engine to remove. It's just that labour is expensive and people don't expect to do such major things on, what most people consider as a non exotic car.

It would be cheaper to fit a zetec...

Been driving around in the work 2009 Laguna GT for the last week or so. Wasn't expecting to like it, but it's fun and comfortable, despite 18 inch wheels with low profile tyres. Petrol engine and presume it is a 2 litre - not fast but is great on back roads. Can't see why others pick the BMW 325 estate over this, as that feels cheap and nasty for a two year old car.

Holy shit - I can barely believe my eyes when he starts single handedly spinning it round on a single jack.

there needs to be some lunatic who will put a TUD into an RX8......

Someone buy me an RX8 and a late-ish 106/Spaxo diesel and your wish will be granted.

Oh, and somewhere dry/warm to do it would be magic.

Out in the Jaguar with the fair wife last night, she looks up and asks, 'OMG, what's going on with the headlining?'

19 months & two MOT's I've had that car, the first time she's noticed the sagging headlining.

Is this a record?

Its possible i'm the only human that didn't already know this, but we were just talking about chickengate at work and one of the guys said - did you know KFC only follow 11 people on Twitter?  I didn't, but sure enough he brings it up on his phone and they follow all of the spice girls and 6 random guys named Herb.  Because its a secret blend of 11 Herbs and Spices....

Well, I thought it was absolute genius.

This from a now locked thread in the open section

In light of this, do we possibly need to put up a PLEASE READ sticky somewhere with some rules about content in threads, instead of people signing up, getting heckled/moderated out of nowhere and leaving again?

Just discovered that, like me, George Lucas' first car was an Autobianchi Bianchina.

His was the sexy open version - because California,  and mine was the van version - because England.

The Force must have been with him to survive that. (Just)

Round thing half way up the photo on the right side is the centrifugal oil-filter.

Just follwed an old millitary truck on my way home. It was 6 wheel drive and had no roof. I didn't get much of a look at it but  it is registered 409UXA which comes up as a Utica-Bend Corp anyone ever heard of them or have an idea what it was. It sounded great with a big old diesel belching out black smoke. Sorry no pictures as it was getting dark and I was driving.
